Check out the mod Animal Control guys
Liwet Dec 28, 2022 @ 9:41pm
Ya, I'm bailing out of this mod until new born animals can default to a specific food policy.
Sui Nov 17, 2022 @ 5:17pm
So annoying that newborn animals don't get the animal food restriction automatically. This is a must have mod for me, but until that is fixed I'll have to use a different one.
MurderfaceMurderfaceMurderface Oct 25, 2022 @ 8:36am
Any plans to update this one to 1.4?
Lieri Sep 16, 2022 @ 2:04pm
Not impossible if you set a zone where food is stored, then inverse it and set the zone for the allowed zone for animals, which is more of a brute fix.
FiauraTheTankGirl Sep 10, 2022 @ 12:37pm
Thank you! Maybe my Dragons Thrumbos and Guinea Pigs can stop being Alcoholics now and EXPLODING from Chemshine overdose.
rcrean13 Aug 19, 2022 @ 5:02pm
I'm guessing the food restrictions are not inherited by offspring?
Silverwolf da Grouch Aug 8, 2022 @ 8:47am
@T.N.Tobin how? Been looking into it and I keep turning up nothing. I am really tired of my fine and lavish meals being fed to pigs by my colonists.
T.N.Tobin Aug 4, 2022 @ 6:31am
This is pointless. you can already tell animals not to eat packaged meals. the game has ways to limit things.
Bizarro May 31, 2022 @ 7:36pm
Thanks man! You rock.
Proxyer May 19, 2022 @ 10:06pm
Thanks for your update works! :lunar2019grinningpig:

Updated to v1.3:
- Support for game version 1.3
Aramati Jan 18, 2022 @ 5:03am
@Bizarro try Animal Controls, has it and more. By the description looks better since newborns inherit their food restriction from their parents;
Bizarro Jan 11, 2022 @ 1:23pm
Hope somebody updates this mod. It should honestly be coded into the base game itself lol.
Fruitn Jan 1, 2022 @ 1:42pm
Animals logic? I can't remember how it works.
mago20078 Dec 28, 2021 @ 6:01am
1.3 pls?
:UltimateChicken:
MightyGooga Nov 1, 2021 @ 12:51pm
Update?
Anon Sep 20, 2021 @ 1:02pm
No thanks I don't want to use an unnecessarily convoluted system instead of this.
-shhfiftyfive Aug 23, 2021 @ 1:57pm
^ replacement in the description above
Hans Aug 23, 2021 @ 1:22pm
Ûpdate?
-shhfiftyfive Aug 13, 2021 @ 4:00am
i'm not sure if this mod (out of date) is the cause, but my human pawns couldn't eat meals with this 1.2 version in 1.3 game.

disabling this mod solved the problem.

also, i haven't playing in a while so i'm not sure if this mod ever had ability to prevent tamed thrumbos from eating all the planted trees?
-shhfiftyfive Aug 12, 2021 @ 10:21am
1.3 version? does this 1.2 have problems on 1.3?
LanceMan Aug 4, 2021 @ 3:14am
will this be updated ?
Mr. Poopy Butthole Jul 24, 2021 @ 2:05am
I just wanted to ask, if i set this to "NOTHING", will they still graze?
Geobeetle Jul 22, 2021 @ 11:49am
Thanks.
Geobeetle Jul 20, 2021 @ 11:24am
Update please?
Ericus1 Jun 18, 2021 @ 5:40pm
@moosey That actually really does, as I have got that companion mod too. It's not that hard to just make the animal policy be the first in the list. Thanks.
moosey Jun 17, 2021 @ 9:46pm
@Ericus1 It's annoying, but by default (at least with the companion mod, AnimalFoodRestrictionsInTab) the restriction is set to the first out of all your food restrictions. In a new save, this should be Lavish -- I obviously didn't want animals eating my lavish food, so to fix this I set the lavish restriction to just something like kibble/hay and made a new restriction for my colonists to use (the idea being that I usually end up getting more animals faster than I end up getting new colonists). Hopefully that helps :)
Ericus1 Jun 16, 2021 @ 9:42am
The lack of being able to set a default value for or have newborn animals inherit the food restriction from the mother seriously compromises the utility of this mod. Constantly having to go through my livestock list of 200+ cows, pigs, and chickens to set every birthed animal to the correct food restriction so they don't starve to death is a serious pain.
Tsornin May 30, 2021 @ 2:08pm
@tovenaar I've found it's easiest to make a new food restriction list called animals, so you don't accidentally mess with what your colonists eat.
Deaxsa May 16, 2021 @ 5:45am
@nezumirogane I just plant peppers lol (vanilla something or other)
Deaxsa May 16, 2021 @ 5:45am
Running into an issue where even though hay is an allowed food for the milkbeetles and there's 2000 of it, the animal trainer won't train them in any skills, leading to skill decay. Unfortunate but that's too big of a bug (hehe) to keep using this mod.
kezza596 May 3, 2021 @ 10:33am
Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but even after restricting my animals they're still eating meals which I disallowed. Is there something else I'm meant to be doing?
Sophoto7 Apr 22, 2021 @ 1:26pm
I was wondering how to bulk assign for all animals and found this mod which adds on to this one (need to have both in mod list) - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2369311144&searchtext=AnimalFoodRestrictionInTab
Tovenaar Mar 21, 2021 @ 12:32pm
Edit: I un-allowed these foods for my colonists, meaning I un-allowed them for my animals.
Tovenaar Mar 21, 2021 @ 12:25pm
After 2 days of looking and playing without training(!!!!reeee), I've found the answer to my ''bug''
I could tame animals, but couldn't train them, as it would say ''no usable food''

Animal food restrictions were set to lavish, which doesn't allow hay/kibble etc
Not sure how much of this is default, I'd hope that its my own mistake, it probably is to be fair.
大鸡炖蘑菇 Feb 24, 2021 @ 4:20pm
yep,thank you
Nezumirogane Feb 23, 2021 @ 3:02pm
I don't have a fix for that. Drugs are handled well away from where my animals can get them-- they don't haul them. Get the robots mod that adds hauling robots-- I find them far more useful than animals overall.
大鸡炖蘑菇 Feb 23, 2021 @ 6:02am
how about beers and other drugs that have nutrition?
Nezumirogane Feb 22, 2021 @ 5:03pm
I've paired this mod with Graze-up to prevent them from eating my crops. Otherwise, I only let my wolves into the actual sowing area.
大鸡炖蘑菇 Feb 21, 2021 @ 11:09pm
my animals will eat my plants, but i want them to help me haul things.how to avoid that
Nezumirogane Feb 21, 2021 @ 8:01pm
I see, I have one for my meat eaters and a separate one for my other animals. Whenever I catch them eating something I slap them with the right meal type. I guess I could make the meat eater setup the default, as the other animals can access the kibble, thanks.

How do I set the food restriction for all animals?
Wadical Feb 21, 2021 @ 11:59am
I just make my first food restriction for animals and then another for my colonists since its easy to change there restrictions in mass @Nezumirogane other than that idk
Nezumirogane Feb 21, 2021 @ 8:26am
Is there a way to pass on the food restrictions to offspring? I keep finding random young animals eating the berries and such my pawns harvest in the field with "Lavish" settings.
Virsia Jan 31, 2021 @ 4:56am
well I just wanted to stop my nuko getting wasted drinking whiskey maybe this mod is the answer
maobe Jan 30, 2021 @ 1:07pm
got a group of terriers. a while they had pupps. and the first thing one of them did was running to the beer shelf and got wasted... will try this mod!
Ichigo Jan 26, 2021 @ 12:34am
My cat decide to kill itself by eating my flake. Time to install this mod.
Deaxsa Jan 11, 2021 @ 7:37am
I'm trying to prevent animals from drinking my wine and ambrandy, in addition to the nicer foods (insect jelly...). Does this mod help?
