@TextureNotFound probably not i think they hardcoded it to only load DOOM II entities, so anything else probably wouldn't load, like you can't play hexen or strife in this either because it just only looks for stuff like imp and super shotgun textures and not new things like the flamethrower or banshees

@thehazardous If I know right (currently) gmDoom only can load textures and sounds from iwad files, like the official Doom2 one. However, I don't know if gmDoom can load Ultimate Doom or not.

Would you be interested in making a gmheretic or gmhexen? Heretic probably wouldn't be too difficult to create, as that game is basically doom with some extra features (though making the inventory would definitely be a chore).

HeXen would most likely be difficult to create with all the scripting, connected levels, hubs, etc. Though the enemies and items wouldn't be that difficult to work out.

Go to your Steam library. Press properties on your game. A window will pop up, and in there go to Installed Files. And then press "Browse".

It will open your file explorer to where your game is located. From there you can easily find the Doom2.wad

im doing what the instructions say and i have DOOM 2 installed but when i search up :\Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\doom 2\base\DOOM2.WAD, it's not there

quick tip, If you want to use Freedoom with this, rename the IWAD to its doom counterparts name, since it doesn't recognise them otherwise

no i got it off the "official gzdoom website" where you can download it then i downloaded the wads from another place (internet archive website) and im not really sure where to add the wads (sorry if im wasting your time im really a dumbass)

Now that I think about it. You are most likely asking because you pirated it from some weird website, or someone shared GZDoom with you already containing the original Doom in it. And since you didn't set the program manually yourself, you probably never realized how it works lol.

I don't think you understand how Doom works, silly. You don't need an unofficial "doom port" because this addon already works a source port. Your doom.wad contains the full Doom game.

We just use Source ports to run that old game on a modern machine. Like GZDoom.

Every single Source Port you have seen that supports Doom, is just the layer made to run the old Doom, not made to replace the actual Doom itself. Hence the name "Source Port".

So yes, the recent "Doom 1&2" that Bethesda/Xbox is selling right now is just essentially an emulator specifically made to run that same file that we have been carrying around since 1993.
