I just updated the mod(for Rimworld 1.1), you can find and enable the new setting in the mod-options near the bottom (~13 from bottom)
Having it be like " [Beta18] Children, school and learning " rather than " Children, school and learning B18 " (where it cuts off the end of the name due to spacing issues, in the workshop list) would be more useful for trying to find the correct version at a glance. :-)
So I imagine that to have materials to teach my kids medicine... I need to give them access to the hospital + have people in need of treatment, and put a school desk + blackboard in the hospital too?
Any possibility of uh, giving the kids *books* to learn from instead--along with a penalty for learning speed, perhaps? Those books could be sold by traders, or maybe written by colonists with very high skill numbers (17+) as a task similar to a research bench...
Also wondering if this would work with one of the cadaver training mods, and if the kids would get the debuff for "seeing a corpse" since at 3 years old they probably don't know a corpse is a bad thing. Or maybe they could risk acquiring Corpse Fascination that way? :)

probably should have updated just this mod-entry, but the ship has sailed ^^
B19(0.19.X) Version:

@GBT1989 Thanks ^^
B19 - 1.0.0
- Traits for children can now be configured (random/none/inherited/inherited+random)
- Children born younger then 8 years should no longer have implants on birth (rare case anyway, but should be working)
- New born children now can be renamed for half a year (first name)
- Option to rename any pawn's first name (for previous children, but should work on any pawn)
- Option to configure if the child recieves the mother's or father's last name (default still mother!)
- Asari should now be able to normally get pregnant (To be tested when the mod gets updated to B19)
- Prisoner children should now be prisoners aswell (when inside a cell)
The possibility can be configured in the mod-options ('Base pregnancy chance', I think it's 20% by default)
however, how come my pawn still got pregnant during birth control? (she ate birth control drug every 5 days and it's shown on the health tab that she doesn't have any fertility.)
is it a bug or anything?
one more thing, is there anyway to change the possibility of pregnancy?
Thanks again!
I haven't tested Xenn / Ape races, they usually should work but might have some oddities.
I don't think you currently can set at which age they get pregnant (the XML for the race defines that indirectly), but you can turn down the chances for pregnancy by a good amount (I think it's 20% by default, maybe set it to 2%)
Also are Xenn and Ape races compadible?
Also am I able to increase the allowed age for pregnancy? Otherwise the colony might be swarmed by babies in the near future lol.
Thank you very much for your time!
It'd be less scary.
@Matthew Canada Williams - Hmm, yeah not sure ^^ but might work
I dunno.
I'd be afraid if that were the case but it's still an interesting design.
