@eiralewana - Thanks ^^
I just updated the mod(for Rimworld 1.1), you can find and enable the new setting in the mod-options near the bottom (~13 from bottom)

@Dylan Thank you for the consideration. I really appreciate it and I love the work you've already put into it.

You can configure the chances in the options (see the second to last screenshot above) it is hidden for the first 15 days of 45 (a basegame thing) and you might not have noticed yet, you can also enable 'Always show pregnancy' in the option to see it just when it happens, there is also a 'Always get pregnant(TEST)' to test things (if some other mod is messing with stuff) then they should get pregnant right after the hearts are gone

How do I get a colonist pregnant? Two of them are in a relationship and sleep together in the same bed, but nothing. What's the standard way to get someone pregnant, and how do I increase the chances?
Kittenpox Apr 14, 2019 @ 6:15pm
Thankyou!
Dylan  [author] Apr 14, 2019 @ 3:31pm
@Kittenpox - just changed it ^^
Kittenpox Apr 14, 2019 @ 12:48pm
Could the version number for these please be at the Start of the mod name in the Workshop? Just did a search, and at least 3 versions of this mod showed up - which meant I then had to mouse over each one to try and find which was the most recent one.

Having it be like " [Beta18] Children, school and learning " rather than " Children, school and learning B18 " (where it cuts off the end of the name due to spacing issues, in the workshop list) would be more useful for trying to find the correct version at a glance. :-)

@Geethebluesky - The use of herbal medicine is just to balance it a bit and they just need the medicine to learn currently (no room or patient) - the books are an interesting idea in general, I will look into it.
Geethebluesky Sep 12, 2018 @ 9:29am
A few suggestions/questions:

So I imagine that to have materials to teach my kids medicine... I need to give them access to the hospital + have people in need of treatment, and put a school desk + blackboard in the hospital too?

Any possibility of uh, giving the kids *books* to learn from instead--along with a penalty for learning speed, perhaps? Those books could be sold by traders, or maybe written by colonists with very high skill numbers (17+) as a task similar to a research bench...

Also wondering if this would work with one of the cadaver training mods, and if the kids would get the debuff for "seeing a corpse" since at 3 years old they probably don't know a corpse is a bad thing. Or maybe they could risk acquiring Corpse Fascination that way? :)

At least the link is in the description, so anyone who asks for an update because they didn't bother to read it has no excuse for acting like an idiot :ftired:

Unfortunately it is just to much work to also keep this old B18 version up to date, but now that the B19 unstable/release limbo is over, I finally could get to actually adding some features you have been requesting !But only for the B19 version! :

B19 - 1.0.0

- Traits for children can now be configured (random/none/inherited/inherited+random)

- Children born younger then 8 years should no longer have implants on birth (rare case anyway, but should be working)

- New born children now can be renamed for half a year (first name)

- Option to rename any pawn's first name (for previous children, but should work on any pawn)

- Option to configure if the child recieves the mother's or father's last name (default still mother!)

- Asari should now be able to normally get pregnant (To be tested when the mod gets updated to B19)

- Prisoner children should now be prisoners aswell (when inside a cell)

Thank you so much Dylan! :)

@GreatGatzB[VI] - Yes ^^ I am just doing some tests, should get updated today
ManicMillennial Aug 29, 2018 @ 1:15am
Hi Dylan! I love this mod! A question though, will this sweet mod be available for .19?
tetk135 Aug 26, 2018 @ 8:20am
Thanks!
Dylan  [author] Aug 25, 2018 @ 1:57pm
@tetk135 - Well, it should be active, especially if it shows up with 0 fertility. The only thing might be, that with default settings, a human pregnancy only shows up after 15 days (it is invisible until then, except for the discover medical operation) so if you didn't take it beforehand that might have happened.

The possibility can be configured in the mod-options ('Base pregnancy chance', I think it's 20% by default)
tetk135 Aug 25, 2018 @ 5:12am
Thanks for you work!

however, how come my pawn still got pregnant during birth control? (she ate birth control drug every 5 days and it's shown on the health tab that she doesn't have any fertility.)

is it a bug or anything?

one more thing, is there anyway to change the possibility of pregnancy?

Thanks again!
Dylan  [author] Aug 17, 2018 @ 7:59am
@Felix Wong - For humans the colors should work, for most alien races they do not, sometimes it is possible to add support for them.

I haven't tested Xenn / Ape races, they usually should work but might have some oddities.

I don't think you currently can set at which age they get pregnant (the XML for the race defines that indirectly), but you can turn down the chances for pregnancy by a good amount (I think it's 20% by default, maybe set it to 2%)
Felix Wong Aug 17, 2018 @ 3:32am
Are children's hair and skin colors affected by their parents' look? I've had three couples (two of which have brown and dark hair color) give birth to three kids and all of them are blond and lighter skin color.

Also are Xenn and Ape races compadible?

Also am I able to increase the allowed age for pregnancy? Otherwise the colony might be swarmed by babies in the near future lol.

Thank you very much for your time!
InquisitorAxel Aug 15, 2018 @ 9:14pm
can i breed prisoners
Dylan  [author] Aug 15, 2018 @ 10:10am
@Lumber Worm - should be, never had/heard of any problems
AndreTheGiant Aug 15, 2018 @ 8:49am
save game compatible?
Rex705 Aug 14, 2018 @ 6:49pm
Should children be ODing on drugs?
Dylan  [author] Aug 10, 2018 @ 2:10pm
@elruben The Birds&Bees mod has the option: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=751049133 (Load order after Children!)
elruben Aug 9, 2018 @ 4:44pm
can there be surgery for not getting pregnant like tubes tied? or is the birth control the only way
Kwynn Aug 5, 2018 @ 5:06pm
And more realistic as opposed to magic procreation.
Kwynn Aug 5, 2018 @ 5:06pm
Or alter artificial impregnation to require something from another male, I dunno.
It'd be less scary.
Dylan  [author] Aug 5, 2018 @ 10:23am
@Testi - You need the 'Medicine production'-research

@Matthew Canada Williams - Hmm, yeah not sure ^^ but might work
Testi Aug 5, 2018 @ 12:14am
How do you get brirth controle drugs? In my drug lab there is none.
Kwynn Aug 2, 2018 @ 3:41pm
Uh, I'm thinking of it being like a transplant, like extract a still living fetus, not incubating, but sustained (infinitely, like an organ somehow).
I dunno.
I'd be afraid if that were the case but it's still an interesting design.
Dylan  [author] Aug 2, 2018 @ 2:42pm
@viirinsoftworks - Hmm, I think the main challenge would be the interface for it, otherwise it might be ok. I might have a look at it at some point.
viirinsoftworks Aug 2, 2018 @ 9:40am
Any plans to make surrogates possible? (remove pregnancy from one target and have a second target receive it?)
Dylan  [author] Aug 2, 2018 @ 8:50am
@<BoSs>Burnlin - But yes, they would not normally get pregnant, but I will have a look at it (at least for 1.0 to make it fully compatible with the Asari)
Dylan  [author] Aug 2, 2018 @ 8:49am
@<BoSs>Burnlin - It should work with the 'Artificial pregnancy'-operation (at least it works for 2 human female partners, but I haven't tested this race)
viirinsoftworks Aug 2, 2018 @ 8:03am
Nevermind, I got it. The medical care level was too low for the medicine needed.
viirinsoftworks Aug 2, 2018 @ 7:58am
I'm trying to artificially impregnate someone, and I have decent medical skills on one pawn and a bunch of Medicine and Herbal Medicine, but it still says 'materials needed'. What materials? It's a female pawn with no lover.
Burnlin Aug 1, 2018 @ 5:51pm
hi i was just wondering there is a mod which adds the asari from masss effect but ofc they are all "female" so would this mod not work for them?
Kwynn Jul 28, 2018 @ 11:28am
I would test but I believe in human rights. I will make a test world and see.
