Checking what mod is causing this, the mount button shows but can't mount.
Will take time, I have 200+ mods loaded, all the obvious ones it seems do not cause the mod compatibility issue, its some mod doing changes it shouldn't

It seems that the Mod error checker (which is a mod by itself) picks up an assembly that normally isn't loaded to the game (it should only load that assembly for the 1.0 version of Rimworld). So in less technical terms: the error is completely harmless. I'll remove that assembly though since no one ever uses Rimworld 1.0 anymore, and more people will probably run into this.

Giddy-up Mechanoids can't be updated until What the Hack is updated, for which I don't currently have time.
Huge thanks go to cyinghan who performed this update. It's amazing to see the community steps in when I don't have the time to update
all my mods due to other obligations.

In extension, how is the damage directed? does the pawn/animal take all the damage, or is it split between the two?
No matter how many times I launch raids with this mod, Giddy-up! Core and HugsLib in vanilla, no one rides up and attacks!
Even if I set the option to make the possibility of riding 100%, no one rides and attacks.

You can, if you assign the mounts in the caravan screen. If you don't do that, they won't arrive mounted (but still get the vanilla movement bonus).
Only really becomes an issue vs mortars though...
