I've gone through the last month and done some updates across the board adjusting almost every edit in the collection. I've added Finisher and Special moves to edits where they were missing to help fill them out. I also focused on filling out Priority slots and adding some pin sequences in addition to some adjustments to Irish Whip logic, also added some more flash pin opportunities for high flyer/technical wrestler edits.
I've done a few sweeping logic adjustments like this in the past but this should really be the last major sweeping update like this on existing edits, I'll continue to make corrections or add new edits on a case by case basis but the overall style of the edits should be up to date and something I'm happy with now.
I will never say never on the Monday Night Wars, but I have no current plans to start on it.
Based on the roster sizes in that era and how frequently wrestlers changed gimmicks, if I were to tackle that it would be in a one or maybe two year span per fed, not the five I did with these collections.
But it's really about time, I have almost all of the wrestling weekly tv shows from 1982 to 2001 on my pc that I watch to try and get the moves and logic right, but trying to do the heel and face versions or gimmick variations of this era is more than I can tackle at the moment.
Also aTm is the best publicist an edit make could ever want lol :D
There is nothing drastic, but I tweaked logic and adjusted some early pin attempts, after the priorities expanded I went too far for my liking by linking every pin to a priority, so I've made some adjustments there. The effect of this will be getting back to 15-20 min matches for most edits on average.
I also adjusted some skin tones, most of my edits were too pale and I gave more edits a tan to better reflect their real life counterpart.
I also added some headlocks and hip tosses, and this type of updating will continue as things come up, but I'm about to sim some tournaments and if the matches are working as intended these big sweeping type of updates will not be again :D
Shultz was just outside of the time period I was setting for this collection, but I wanted to include him since I had seen him as a kid have a match with Hogan that I always remembered. I think the match was off one of the VHS tapes but I can't be sure. I always wondered how "Dr. D" would have been used had he been around for the Rock N Wrestling boom.
The WCW and NWA collections shouldn't take as long as the WWF stuff since I have a better idea of what I want the logic to be than when I started, and there are a good number of "re-skins" that can be copied and updated.
Logic wise I've noticed that since the last update, matches are going longer than they were before so there still may be some logic adjustments as I spend more time playing wth the edits.
Thanks for checking out my collections :)
Half of these guys or more didn't have entrance music so check the individual bio's for the MP3 notation, if there isn't one there then they did not get a mp3 attached. The 'change notes' will show "MP3/Logic Update" so I just wanted to give a heads up that a number of these guys didn't have themes.
Outside of test simming, I'm in edit mode all of the time, so as I sim tournaments and spend more time playing with the game I may make more adjustments, also feedback from people can also prompt adjustments.
Excluding later additions, I'm finished up on the updates here and next weekend I will have a WCW collection update going up. :)
Excluding adding random edits I may have missed later on, this completes the WWF 85-90 pack.
I still need to do some mp3 association updates to some edits but that will be coming over the next week and then I will be starting in full on my WCW and NWA-JCP packs.
These edits will be updated for logic adjustment/fixes and for the application of whatever the game may add in the way of moves/features.
I've been working on these edits for the past two weeks so if I missed anything or need to make any adjustments just let me know.
I'm going to add the managers from the 90's pack soon too but I'll do that once this update isn't as new.
I'll also post when I'm done associating the mp3's.
I have around 15 or so edits left for this collection, so as Gorilla used to say during a battle royal, we are getting down to the nitty gritty.
I'm going to be working on WCW 89-93 next with NWA Jim Crockett Promotions 85-88 to follow, but I most likely will be bouncing back and forth between the two since some of the edits overlap.
But yes, early WCW and NWA-JCP are next up.
"action figure aesthetic" is a great way to describe them, I like that :D
I'm about 2/3 through logic updating my 90's collection and when I am done I have about 40 edits to complete here, most of them are heel singles and a few tag teams to wind down this collection, so I could be finishing these up in the next week or two I think.
I also linked a few more edits from my 90's pack but I think that most of the ones I can link to both are done, so as I continue on this collection it should be all new guys.
I see what you are saying, I usually give people a heads up since I know there is a variety of ways people can approach this game and their edits. The Steam Workshop has really changed the game in how edit distribution works.
I like to try and re-create era's as they happened but I know some like to have 'definitive' versions of edits where they have one Lex Luger edit that covers JCP, WCW, and his WWF gimmicks in one edit with different costumes. I have no issues with that approach but it's not for me and it's not accurate, I could never get used to a Papa Shango edit coming to the ring with his name plate saying Godfather but I know for some they do not care about that as much. I also realize that I don't play the WWE 2K games and they have a tendency to have past gimmicks as alternate costumes, and I think for some that's what they are used too, or prefer, so I understand.
That's the great thing about Fire Pro though, it can reach every type of audience :)
Thanks for continuing with another great collection. :)
With logic I am woking with the new priority slots and removing random % critical pins. This is a work in progress and if this works out I will be updating my 90's edits to match this logic prority style. There is not a drastic difference in the edits behavior but it removes odd pin situations.
I have no release schedule for this collection but I have been watching WWF shows from this era and I will be progressing through, like the 90's collection, most wrestlers of note will be covered.
As for where an edit would live if you just kept one, I would balance between impact and time spent. Undertaker made his debut in the fall of 1990 but he didn't make much of an impact so I would put him in the 91-95 promotion, but Kerry Von Erich is more tricky. He made his debut in the summer of 1990 and quickly won the IC title, defending it for three months, so you have his six month 1990 but represented as IC Champ, vs his almost two years of time spent from late 90-92 in the WWF where he wasn't a champion.
I would think making a choice would just be a temporary issue, I've spent four months on this era of WWF so I'm looking to eventually be moving on to other era collections and not updating these as much so then making a copy would be a safe bet.
But I was also meaning more of, if I were to just have the one Texas Tornado edit (who fits in both your WWF collections), would it be more apt to slot him into the 85-90 promotion in my game (since he debuted in 1990) or leave him in the 91-95 promotion (since his bio mentions his post-IC title feud with Flair)? Sorry for the confusing question - and thanks!
I think I understand what you are asking, but if I don't please feel free to clarify :)
I'm linking the wrestlers like the ones you mentioned to this collection and people can make a copy of them in their game if they seperate thier edts by time period like I do, if you do not seperate your edtis by the time periods specified by my pack then you only need the one edit, I hope that makes sense lol.
This will only apply to wrestlers like the above mentioned where there would be no difference in the edit. Any name changes or attire changes or heel/face variations that didn't exist in the other pack will get a new edit. Big Bossman is an expample of receiving a new edit for a heel version, and Warlord and Barbarian are getting new edits to match their look/attire from this time, but Legion of Doom for example will just get linked to the collection.
Tito Santana is an example of someone who will have a higher point total due to being IC Champion.
Thanks!
