I was simming an MMA match between Royce Gracie and Conor McGregor, and noticed that they lift their opponents off the ground to stand them up. Is that intentional?
Senator Phillips  [author] Jan 11, 2021 @ 9:22am
Yes,it's a bug I wish that they squashed before they ended work on the game, it's been around since FPR on the PS2, at least, maybe further back. Basically, when one of the fighters have their health zeroed out, but they're still standing, it flags the other fighter to stop going. Usually, it takes a grapple or anything that puts the zeroed fighter on the mat to end it at that point, but they have to initiate it. I do hate this bug, and it's by far the worst part of Gruesome fights.
Viper Jan 11, 2021 @ 9:06am
has anyone had a problem where some of the fighters will not finish a fight in gruesome fighting mode? ive had it where both guys were close to being ko'd so they both just stood doing nothing until the next round lol. It happens only with a few of these edits for me.
pd1021 Jun 6, 2020 @ 9:43pm
I been using your boxers for months and now I'm getting your MMA edits.... Can't wait to see what women you add and definitely needs more Gracies (I kid)...Its 2020 and I'm just learning of all these Gracie fighters not named Royce. 🤷🏾‍♂️🤦🏾‍♂️
Senator Phillips  [author] Apr 18, 2020 @ 8:17pm
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying them!

Great collection!

You're the best!
Senator Phillips  [author] Jul 18, 2019 @ 11:33pm
Glad to hear that you're enjoying the edits...including the new Paez, I presume...
masterchard Jul 18, 2019 @ 8:53am
Love you edits dude. Maromero Paez, please.
Senator Phillips  [author] Jun 30, 2019 @ 1:42pm
A good question, part of it is that I always come across some good training footage of guys, and wanted to replicate some of the more interesting and iconic looks that I came across, some of it is that I wanted to have some non-gloved attire for "unsanctioned" type bouts, or encounters with the bare knuckle era guys, and some of it is simply that I like to throw some varying looks out there. I like your thoughts there with the interview/weight in/training pics and could well do some of those in the future for my All Time Boxing fed I do.
View The Phenom Jun 30, 2019 @ 12:37pm
Hey Senator, out of curiosity what's your idea behind the fourth attire for your boxers?
Is it just imagining training/casual wear for the edits? Do you use them for interview/weigh-in images?
Senator Phillips  [author] May 31, 2019 @ 6:14am
Yep, give me a week or so, and I'll start in on them for sure.
View The Phenom May 31, 2019 @ 3:18am
Hey Sen, any interest in additional MMA female edits?
rippermadrox Apr 4, 2019 @ 5:36pm
Another odd request- Jack O'Halloran. Pro boxer, son of one the most famous mob bosses ever, and an actor who fought Superman. I like having unusual edits, and I definitely think he fits the bill.
Senator Phillips  [author] Jan 3, 2019 @ 6:10pm
Absolutely, a great question, Kip! I found that a five knockdown rule is best for Fire Pro, since the way things are built, you have far too many clean connects that will knock people down. I'll go with the old school setup of fifteen rounds of three minutes each, too. At the very least, that's my recommended set of rules for how I run S-1.

I generally have SWA set up for three ten minute rounds, and no TKO, since leaving them on can mess up any follow ups to a grounded opponent, and I find that Gruesome is best when you just let it go without rounds or mercy.
Kip_1985 Jan 2, 2019 @ 6:52pm
Hey Sen, just wanted to ask how you sim your S-1 fights. I've been wanting to get into it more, and would like to see your specific ruleset (as in time per round, TKO's, etc.). Actually, rulesets for Gruesome and SWA fights would be great as well.
rippermadrox Nov 24, 2018 @ 9:34am
Thank you, good Senator.
Senator Phillips  [author] Nov 24, 2018 @ 7:31am
A good call, he's on my long term list to make and I'll bump him up a bit.
rippermadrox Nov 24, 2018 @ 5:04am
I just read about Emile Griffith and would love to see an edit of him.
Senator Phillips  [author] Nov 4, 2018 @ 3:08pm
I have wanted to make Cael Sanderson for a while, and could certainly attempt more, the only problem is that I need just a few more moves on the ground positions to differentiate freestyle guys a bit more. But I would not mind getting a few more amateur champs up at some point.
rippermadrox Nov 4, 2018 @ 3:05pm
Any chance for more amateur/Olympic wrestlers? Especially recent medalists to battle the like of Angle, Karrlin, Gable, etc. And, I may have asked you before, but pre-wrestling versions of famous wrestlers. Olympic Judoka Bad News Brown, Sumo Rikidizan, maybe MMA Jack Gallagher?

Fouls don't actually work in vanilla S-1, it's actually for a custom mode I'm creating to extend the Boxing ruleset. Hopefully, it will be portable to version 2.0 as well.
Senator Phillips  [author] Oct 7, 2018 @ 7:43pm
Golata is certainly on my projected list, he was legit skilled and was part of a number of big fights in the late 90s. Not even sure if the low blow works from front grapple in S-1, but I'm happy to make him and find out!
View The Phenom Oct 7, 2018 @ 7:01pm
Hey Senator, wondering if you would be interested in creating Andrew Golota at some point. I'm working on a boxing project, and he would be a great candidate for highlighting how fouls work.

:D
Senator Phillips  [author] Jul 8, 2018 @ 12:11pm
More than glad to explain my admittingly random rationale! Right now, I'm mostly focused on Project Boxing, I'll be trying to make more of Ali's opponents, and fill out both my Middleweight and Lightweight divsiions. I'm also throwing in some vintage grapplers here and there, like Masahiko Kimura, and I have more of those to port over from my Fire Pro Returns roster that I made. I'll eventually get back to the UFC and also want to work on an idea of several alternate versions of UFC 1, both one from the same era, and one from the 70s or 80s, involving popular martial artists of the time.
Darkability Jul 8, 2018 @ 7:01am
So how are you prioritising/ordering this? cuz you've got some fighters from the 1800's, but not some from the 1900's/2000's.

(Pls don't think of this as a hate comment as this collection is great, i'm just interested).
elmanny3000 Jul 8, 2018 @ 5:59am
YOU DA MAN! Ive been simming wars between Gotti and Ward, its like I am a kid again!
Senator Phillips  [author] Jul 7, 2018 @ 12:47pm
Oh, it's far from any sort of completion...and I can prioritize Sugar Shane to be my next boxer to make!
elmanny3000 Jul 7, 2018 @ 12:45pm
This list is complete BUT I am only slightly salty about the exclusion of Sugar Shane Mosley...I'm just saying....you know....
Darkability Jul 2, 2018 @ 1:37pm
thx :D
Senator Phillips  [author] Jun 28, 2018 @ 1:48pm
I could certainly make the Huntington Beach Bad Boy and the Iceman at some point, when I get back to the history of the UFC, might be a little while until then, but I'll get to them.
Darkability Jun 24, 2018 @ 12:09am
Can I suggest Tito Ortiz and Chuck Liddell? Also there's a new boxer that seems like he could be quite good called Josh Kelly.
Senator Phillips  [author] Apr 22, 2018 @ 7:11am
As soon as I make a few more Middleweights, Ward is on my target list for when I start my Lightweight division. The Ward/Gotti series is my favorite trilogy of fights this side of Ali-Frazier, no way I don't make Irish Mickey Ward! Marquez is another lock on my "must make" list, too. Stevenson could certainly bolster my roster too. Good suggestions!
Snickernicka69 Apr 21, 2018 @ 11:33pm
are you going to do Mickey Ward (boxer) Adonis Stevenson (boxer) Juan Manuel Marquez (boxer),
Senator Phillips  [author] Apr 14, 2018 @ 4:09pm
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying my boxers!
pelusaloca Apr 14, 2018 @ 4:08pm
Amazing job!
Senator Phillips  [author] Apr 10, 2018 @ 1:53pm
Much appreciated, words like that are tremendous motivation to me to keep things up, and I'm glad a fellow boxing fanatic is getting some solid enjoyment out of these edits.
astrozombie Apr 10, 2018 @ 7:19am
For what it's worth, I am a huge boxing fan and a little bit of a historian on boxing, and I just want to let you know I think your edits and write-ups are fantastic.
krangledangle Mar 24, 2018 @ 9:31pm
No sweat - thanks for the reply! Oh, and for sure - from the looks of things, that sectiong of the roster is real deep.
Senator Phillips  [author] Mar 24, 2018 @ 9:00pm
I can do that on the Arena, just keep bugging me. I highly suggest doing a draft between at least two boxing feds for the HW boxers, there's enough for some interesting competition there at this point.
krangledangle Mar 24, 2018 @ 8:57pm
Hey Sen, I'm glad to see this collection is still going strong. FIgured I'd ask before it started to get a bit bigger... Have you any screenshots or notes of how you've been organising this collection - in terms of which fighter goes where? Looking forward to using your saves, come Fire Promoter Mode. Cheers, buddy!
View The Phenom Jan 16, 2018 @ 2:50pm
Maybe lower spirit as well as parameters to simulate the advantage that higher weight classes give? Then just balance edits in a weight class against one another, so you could have the lowest weight with low stamina (for example) fighting evenly within their division but then getting destroyed by heavier fighters.

Could also do something similar with movement speed and recovery, to simulate how lower weights are generally faster on their feet/more athletic than heavier weight boxers. Probably wouldn't be a way to avoid criticals though, with the way RNG works.
wakigatame Jan 16, 2018 @ 2:54am
Awesome! The idea of balancing the lower weight fighters vs. heavier classes is an interesting one and I'm curious as to how you go about tackling that. Lower stats seems llike it could be a fix but at the same time, the RNG will do what it wants to do. Can't wait for more boxers!
Senator Phillips  [author] Jan 15, 2018 @ 5:20pm
Certainly! As much as I admire Ali, there's no way I don't eventually get around to some more of his foes. Plenty more boxers will be made, and I might even start in on some lower weight classes as soon as I figure out how to properly balance them, so Willie Pep or Floyd Jr aren't knocking out Rocky Marciano despite sharing the same basic size.
wakigatame Jan 15, 2018 @ 7:36am
Incredible work here, will you be adding more boxers from Ali's era like George Chuvalo and Leon Spinks?
Burley27 Aug 24, 2017 @ 12:12pm
Awesome pack!
