JSRS SOUNDMOD – Update 2.2 (April 6th, 2025)

New Features:

Overhauled distant firing sound system (WIP)

Larger pool-based distant sound variations

Submix with multiple tails and echoes

Randomized pitch, latency, and volume per shot

New feature:
I am experimenting with some very long range 3d processors to archive a certain stereo echo effect for explosions. So grenade, rockets, artillery, shells, any big explosion really, causes some subtle echo effect. If the explosion is to your right, you will hear the initial boom/pop on the right while you hear a rolling thud across the board. However, it's not fully fledged out yet.

JSRS SOUNDMOD RC2 Release Notes:

Fixed wrong soundsets used for M16 rifles in CUP

Fixed a bug where the volume curves of individual distance steps did not run freely with each other. This led to very quiet sounds at certain distances.

Matched Rotor and Turbine volume to play at 100% simultaneously without clipping.
Helicopters got a final rework. I reworked all Rotor and Turbine noises to match a certain audio level. The division into 4 categories still persists.

Tweaks:
Added new unique sounds for PKM weapons (CUP, GM)

Add a rocket propellant hiss sound after firing for RPG-7 and RPG-42
Verify if RPG-32 has a similar hiss; ensure accuracy for RPG-29 rocket sounds
Adjust EQ for pistols to reduce bass-heavy tones, especially in regard to the tails of .45 pistols
Investigate medium-far distant weapons not audible (BIG update!)
Blackfoot Cannon needs rework (Soundset not applied)
Blackfoot or Kajman autocannon don't use Soundsets (Finally found the problem!)
Vehicle-Launched Rockets are missing; DAR, Skyfire, Skalpel ATGM, AMRAAM added
PKM (CUP and any other compat mod) need unique distinctive sounds
Too much bolt frequency variation for m320llr and smgs
Increase overall helicopter distances
Helicopter audible distance to short
Tank Cannons needs rework, the Curves are to exponential, might increase spatial effect, too
Further increase distances for extreme loud effects
Increase the ranges for each shader step for weapons and explosions, expand the audible window to a much wider range
Work onthe Soundcurves to increase volume across the board, eliminate the negative middle ground, raise the volume
Lower middleground engine sounds but increase the range of overall audibility
Reworked and tweaked Wheeled_APC_01 engine driving sounds external. They where too high pitched
Sorted all helicopter in 4 categories: Small, Medium, Big/Old and Stealth.
Reworked all Launcherpod weapons (Missiles, Rockets, GAT) as well as Artillery Systems
Reworked incoming Shell sounds
Adjusted all distances for helicopters, making them audible over longer distance but not as noisy to oversaturate the audible image
Adjusted all distances for vehicles, making them lower faster but keeping their audible distance.
Tweaked radio protocol noises to be less noisy and annoying.
Reworked all Soniccracks
Divided new pool of Soniccracks for normal rounds, larger ones (like 308) and big ones (50cal and above) to use the same pool but with changed range, frequency and loudness parameters
New SFX for SVD, Hk53
Increase bass of FnFal rifles
Increase power of .45cal pistols (slightly) and Desert Eagle (massively)
Tweaked radio protocol noises to be less noisy and annoying.
M240 (CUP, AEGIS) is bit louder now
M16/M4 (CUP) mechanics got tweaked to a point where I refuse to go any lower 🙂
M16 has increase boom ring out
Adjusting volume curves for explosions and vehicles weapons to keep the sounds from clipping over longer distance.
Mi-8 Blade noise more intense
Tweaked all LMG SFX to be more powerful

Lots and lots of new Snaps and bullet cracks - We are actually at 200 individual bullet crack sounds for super sonic weapons 🫣
New firing sounds for 50cal weapons such as the M2, LLR, GM6 - The sniper rifles only slightly, the M2 is completely new
New SFX for HK53
Added new mg3 sounds and unify them across handheld and static weapons
