Version 1.11.0 "Melek taus"

  • Added Yazidi Flavor Pack: People of the Peacock Angel
  • Added 3 Middle Eastern soundtracks
  • Many miscellaneous tweaks to existing Iranian content to adapt to Legacy of Persia
  • Added Sorbian language for Sorbians
  • Added a fictitious ruler to represent the “pagan” Tirahaye Kurds in 1066
  • Added Zunism, Dezawism, Manichaeism, Mandaeism, Yazidism, Yarsanism, Mehrism, Harranianism, Shamsism, and Rabbinism as involved faiths in the Iranian Intermezzo struggle
  • Added Pamiri, Turco-Hephthalite, Hephthalite, Khuzi, Parsim, and Bavlim as involved cultures in the Iranian Intermezzo struggle
  • Renamed vanilla’s East Bantu culture to Zanj
  • Renamed vanilla’s Afridunism faith to Faridunism (since Afridun is the Arabized version of Faridun/Fareydun)
  • Placed all formerly East Bantu and South Bantu heritage cultures into vanilla's Bantu heritage (the two heritages remain in the code, though, just in case)
  • Turco-Hephthalites have the Frontier Warriors tradition if you own Legacy of Persia
  • Pamiris have Frequent Festivities replaced with Jirga tradition if you own Legacy of Persia
  • Harran and Upper Khabur are now Syriac
  • Thabit ibn Qurra and most other historical Harranian characters are now Syriac
  • Some of the other historical Harranian characters now know the Greek and/or Arabic language at game start
  • Brahuis now use RICE’s old custom namelist (instead of the Gond namelist)
  • Disabled all RICE memories for now as memories (both modded and vanilla) may have been causing performance issues in both modded and vanilla games, and RICE adds a lot for activities; this is experimental and may be reverted at a later time
  • Fixed encoding for compatibility triggers file in scripted triggers
  • Fixed possible bug where non-Theravada faiths were inheriting Theravada doctrines
  • Fixed the game concept for Mud Masons missing text

  • Added 7 medieval/renaissance European soundtracks
  • Renamed Peristani culture to Darada

  • Turco-Hephthalites are now on the map in 1066 and are slightly more widespread, to represent Turkic tribes with possible Hephthalite admixture like the Khallukh and Khalaj (thanks to Soraya for the research)
  • White Hun tradition now only allows raiding over land, not sea

  • Rollo will now always receive the dream event if the player or AI controlling him chooses to go through the legendary event chain

  • Updated RICE+EPE compatch to the newest version of EPE
  • Added full unique namelists for the Vedda, Tsonga, and Sotho-Tswana cultures
  • Added unique dynasty names for the Mijikenda and Pokomo cultures
  • Added code to disable a few changes when run with the Paganism Plus mod (mod was previously compatible, just needed to remove a few of RICE’s conflicting changes per mod author’s request)
  • Added text for the East African and Southeast Asian Silk Road communities options explaining they are only available in certain regions
  • Added East African god names
  • Fixed some CBs being unavailable to rulers involved in the Sri Lanka struggle (using a similar workaround to what was done previously for the Greenland and Normandy struggles)
  • Fixed book burning option when Purifying/Persecuting Sri Lanka’s Sangha not calculating the correct monastery Prominence loss
  • Fixed Nadun festival giving stress instead of losing stress

Version 1.10.0.a Hotfix for "Pali"

  • Added a decision to get your culture and/or faith automatically involved in the Sri Lanka struggle if you are Buddhist
  • Changed Abhayagiri trait to have an additive rather than multiplicative bonus to development
  • Lowered the percentage of counties needed for a culture or faith to be involved in the Sri Lankan struggle from 40% to 15%
  • Increased how much trait experience is gained or lost for Sri Lanka’s monastery patron traits in various places
  • Nerfed development bonus for the Zimbabwes tradition
  • Made it easier for AI to take the decisions to discover Greenland or the Americas
  • Slightly reduced the unlikeliness that non-Germanic rulers would not take the decisions to discover Greenland or the Americans

  • Reduced costs of the Socotra and Tuyuhun Kingdom decisions to be more in line with other decisions
  • County modifiers from the Socotra and Tuyuhun Kingdom decisions now last for 100 years
  • Disabled camera pan feature from the event to change Sri Lanka’s capital to Polonnaruwa, since it may have been causing issues in certain situations
  • Fixed Vijayabahu’s daughter being a different dynasty if playing with ROA

  • Added the Sri Lanka Flavor Pack: Abode of Lions
  • Added 3 Indian themed soundtracks
  • Revamped the old Silk Road communities mechanic:
    • Added 2 new Silk Road communities, East African and Southeast Asia, with corresponding decisions and flavor
    • Expanded te area the mechanic is available to
    • Himalayan, Steppe, and East Asian communities are no longer available in certain regions far away
    • Added a few new events for Silk Road community gifts
    • Tweaked culture and faith variety for some Silk Road courtier spawn
  • Added many new East African and Southeast Asian cultures and faiths; most of the Asian ones were adapted from Rajas of Asia
  • New and improved bookmark visuals, courtesy of Nezaros from the Rajas of Asia mod
  • Adjusted some bookmark characters’ poses and positions
  • There is now a small chance of gaining the Silk Road/Trans-Saharan merchant traits once you complete a number of successful deals with the Silk Road/Trans-Saharan trade options
  • Interaction to grant or receive Normandy can be taken even when the holder of Rouen only has one county, as long as they’re AI; additionally, this is made clearer in the requirements for this interaction
  • Going to war (whether as an attacker or defender) is now a catalyst for the Normandy struggle

  • Tweaked Red Sea region for relevant events/content

Version 1.9.2 "Rouen"

The city of Rouen, which lies along the Seine river that also flows through Paris, has been a major urban center in Normandy for centuries. It served as the capital of the Dukes of Normandy for many years.

  • Norman adventurer CB can now be taken even when you’re a vassal/not independent
  • Added an alternative requirement to end the Normandy struggle where instead of being in a specific phase, you need to have gone through the Adventure and Acculturation phases at least once (New requirement might not work properly on old games; for 1066, this requirement is considered to have already “happened”)
  • Added new catalyst for the Normandy struggle to go to Adventure phase: Travel for a Hunt
  • Added compatibility for Extended Marriage Doctrines
  • Greatly reduced the impact of the Normandy struggle catalyst effect for traveling for an activity
  • Northern Sorcerers tradition is now given to all cultures of Balto-Finnic heritage at game start
  • Any culture descended from Saka, Tocharian, or Sogdian is given the Silk Road tradition at game start
  • Fixed accolades not being affected by victory in RICE’s CBs
  • Fixed Acculturation phase of Normandy struggle not accounting for catalysts to constructing Christian religious buildings
  • Fixed Norman/Norse mercenaries tooltip being inaccurate (by having it not show a number)
  • Fixed catalysts for the Mont-Saint-Michel activities not showing up in the message feed

Version 1.9.1 "Agadez"

  • Added missing Goat Sacrifice activity
  • Many of RICE’s special buildings now act as Points of Interest
  • Various buildings will now reduce the cost of Munya vacations if they are held in that location
  • There is now a 5 year cooldown for starting Munya vacations that applies to both private and group vacation simultaneously
  • Reduced cooldown for the Bodhi tree bathing activity to 10 years
  • Sacred Ceremony option for the Ancestor Worship activity is now available to everyone
  • Added new catalysts for the Normandy struggle, to make it easier to go into Acculturation phase:

Version 1.9.0 "Tagelmust"

The tagelmust is a turban and veil, typically indigo in color, worn by Tuareg men. As such, the Tuareg sometimes call themselves Kel Tagelmust, or People of the Veil. Traditionally, Tuareg men rarely take their veil off in public once they become adults.

  • Added 2 Mideast/North African themed soundtracks
  • Reworked many decisions into activities for a total of 44 activities
  • Added memories for many older decisions and activities
  • Added new unique hot springs locations: Tafadek (Air), Iceland (the whole duchy, yes)

  • Adapted several Siberian faiths from Rajas of India
  • RICE now supports the Gamerule Gadget mod
  • Many RICE traditions now give bonuses to travel speed and/or safety
  • Several Americas-related decisions are now available to Native American heritages
  • It is now possible to seek advice from the Oracle of Amun more than once in a lifetime
  • When taking the Goat Sacrifice decision (for Zunists and Dezawists), you now get a notification for what the result was
  • Network with Trans-Saharan Merchants is no longer a major decision
  • Some content that requires or effects Hellenic or Semitic paganism now effects Amazigh and Egyptian paganism or has these as an alternative requirements
  • Qanat innovation now has a regional requirement, rather than culture/heritage
  • Normal Nile floods now give a slight tax and development boost
  • Renamed Laurentian culture to Kwedech (it is still Laurentian in the code, however)
  • Persian Jewish is now Parsim in the code, to be consistent with Rajas of Asia
  • Reduced the piety level required to expand Nasir Khusraw’s shrine
  • Nerfed renown gain from several Normandy struggle modifiers
  • Revised how Odinala faith is assigned at game start to be more compatibility friendly
  • Integrated a few revamped versions of artwork in RICE, courtesy of DrStein(Dupont)
  • Expedition failure event now has more appropriate animations
  • Bumped up the date for the Brahui emergence event
  • Interaction to gift Tiraz now has a cooldown
  • Nerfed the build speed/cost bonus of the Mud Mason modifiers
  • Fixed Stamford Bull Run not being possible since the event that enables it never triggers (somehow this escaped my notice for 1.5 years)

  • Added Bozo Flavor Pack: Masters of the River
  • Added 3 West African themed soundtracks
  • Added new Trans-Saharan trade geographical region
  • RICE intro message will no longer contain a list flavor packs added, as it was getting too long, and instead give a brief summary of what the newest flavor pack focuses on
  • Tweaked area where the Trans-Saharan trade mechanics apply
  • Decision to Network with Trans-Saharan merchants is now visible even if you already took it but can’t take it again
  • Normandy ending decisions only require going to the early medieval era if you play from a pre-1066 start date like 867
  • The Norman Conquest upgrade for the Adventurers and Aristocrats tradition now also gives a bonus to building cost/speed for Norman castle holdings (i.e. not just buildings)
  • RICE’s gift interactions make you gain or lose stress if you have the greedy or generous traits respectively
  • Increased chances the discoverer of Greenland is randomly selected as a candidate to lead the grand expedition to Vinland
  • Fixed the writer of the Historia Normannorum from potentially being pruned from the game

Version 1.8.5.b Hotfix for "William the Conqueror"

  • Hrolfr is now titled “Hrolfr (Rollo)” in the relevant 867 bookmark to avoid confusion for players who didn’t know Hrolfr is meant to represent Rollo
  • Buffed Norman Cavalry/Marc’hegion MAAs
  • Several decisions are now available even if you’re sick with smallpox or Bubonic plague (other requirements still apply)
  • Made the AI less likely to go on Norman invasions
  • Reduced the likelihood AI will pick the rulers option when taking the decision to invite Norse/Norman settlers
  • The Icelandic Althing decision will no longer change the culture of rulers who have territory in Iceland, but don’t have a capital there
  • Tweaked Mehremist setup when running RICE with BAP
  • The cooldown for the Breton horse interaction is now 3 years rather than 1
  • Adventurers and Aristocrats and Peurajou Libr traditions now mention that the Norman Cavalry and Marc’hegion MAAs increase in stats with each era
  • Fixed possible cause of CTDs with TIP Vol. 2 due to conflicts with TIP’s Breton war over Avranches (for real this time)
  • Fixed bug where RICE potentially conflicted with vanilla’s 10th and 16th birthday on_actions
  • Fixed being able to pick two Adventurer and Aristocrat traditions at the same time
