NOTE: I wanted to get this update out for the bug fixes before all of the art could be finished. Some icons will only say ‘WiP”. However, Banzai finally got its own UI… by stealing it from another ability. Tenacious Defense will be getting a replacement icon soon.

The regret of complexity update:
Banzai aura now includes 1.25x reload speed penalty in addition to its existing 1.25x cooldown and .75x accuracy penalties. This should help mostly against AT guns, handheld AT, and machine guns
MG Nest Type 92 MG upgrade cost to 70mp from 50. Upgrades are now in the intended order.
Type 1 47mm AT Gun Camouflage ability removed.

Coordinated Fire Area casting delay to 5s from 4. Armor penalty to .75x from .7x, received accuracy penalty to 1.25x from 1.3x. No longer lowers accuracy by .85x. It’s still extremely powerful, I promise. Text improved.
Coordinated Fire Are bug-fixed once again. Now, for real, the area should never get stuck in place. I would really prefer this problem to be resolved forever. This ability has been a huge pain of a learning opportunity.
Gyokusai and all variants no longer share experience.
Construction Teams can now plant hand grenade mines.

Steel Typhoon adjustments:
Type 90 75mm AT Gun Flare ability replaced with Dig In, a stationary mode that increases range. Vet 2 and 3 rotation and penetration bonuses swapped, rotation bonus to 40% from 30. Vet 3 +10 range bonus removed, .9x reload and 1.15x sight when Dug In added.
Isuzu Repair Truck can no longer use both Station abilities at the same time. This is a bug fix.
Ka-So Command Tank Coordinated Fire ability removed, Rapid Fire added. Vet 3 now increases ability range by 5, and the accuracy bonus for its MGs was lowered to 1.2x from 1.35x.

Doctrinal Gyokusai changes:
Infiltrators now spawn with 4 rather than 3 men. Healing slowed to .2 from .25. Veteran 1 rifle switch now functioning. Must now manually upgrade for their Type 99 mines: this was added to communicate the weapon’s delay to the player (and opponents).
Infiltrator infiltration has been fixed: thank you to Cr0m4rt1n1 for bringing the bug to my attention!
Infiltrators and Final Assault Teams now use the experimental animation fix that had been applied to Gyokusai. After throwing an AT mine, the soldier’s animations break. I wasn’t able to fix this directly, but now, soldiers will put away the weapon if they are out of combat, making the problem less visible.
Honorable Death passive text now mentions lack of retreat and capture instead of describing what banzai does again.

The Type 99 update:
MG Nest has a new AA upgrade.

Versions of the Type 99 Arisaka with 15 damage reduced to 14.
Hohei/Kohei rifle will be 7% more accurate. With 15 damage, the rifles required 6 shots to kill (soldiers have 80hp). With 14, the rifles still require 6 shots, but are more likely to hit. By limiting overkill, the effective DPS boost of the Type 99 upgrade is now 20%, as intended.
SNLF/Mainland Veteran Arisaka will not gain accuracy, because shots to kill (and thus effective DPS) will not be impacted by this damage change.
Infiltrator/Final Assault rifle accuracy increased in the same way as the Hohei rifle.

Type 96/99 LMG drop behavior overhauled. Like other machine guns in the game, the Type 96 or 99 can be fired on the move by squads with that ability. They get the improved SNLF/Mainland Veteran version.
SNLF/Mainland Veteran Type 99 LMG accuracy lowered by 4%.
FBC Type 99 LMG can no longer be dropped, since there is no room for a replacement upgrade.

Gyokusai moving accuracy set to .5 from .35. This was not communicated in the UI, and was not very intuitive for a close-range assault squad. Type 99 weapon range corrected, had been set to 35m instead of the Gyokusai standard of 25.

Renamed Anti-Tank Support Team grenade ability to Elite Type 3 Anti-Tank Grenade, to reflect its lower cost and lack of tech requirement.
Strike Officer Last Ditch Grenades cooldown to 45s from 30.
Type 90 Field Gun abandoned UI fixed.
Heavy Machine Gun Bunker Dug In upgrade time increased to 50s from 40. UI improved.
Final Assault Squad now uses the same rifle as vet 1 Infiltrators. Vet 3 Call Banzai Assault ability now correctly overrides the vet 2 Self-Replacement ability.
Ka-So Command Tank Ki-84 Bombing Run should now drop the correct number of bombs, 2, rather than 8 or so.

Balance Changes:
Critical Repair Operation healing to 60 hp from 27.
Type 1 47mm AT Gun HE Mode penetration lowered by 20 to 80/100/120. AP Mode reload time to 3/3.25 from 2.625/2.875.
Anti-Tank Support Team veterancy modified. Vet 2 penetration bonus replaced with .75x Type 3 AT Grenade cooldown (from vet 3). Vet 3 AT Grenade cooldown and .85x RA bonus replaced with 5th squad member. Type 97 AT Rifle penetration increased by 10, to 100/110/120. Previously, veterancy brought it to 108/120/132. These changes make the squad better at fighting infantry and using snares aggressively as they vet up.
Construction Team laborer reinforce time to 3s from 4.5.
Type 4 Rocket Launcher penetration lowered by 10 to 90/100/110.
Senninbari now reduce reinforcement cost to 20mp, from 18.

Hotkeys:
Type 97 and 99 Frag Grenades to D from E
Type 94 Smoke Candles and Type 89 Smoke Rounds to E from X or D
Wire Cutters to C from W. This is not consistent with other factions but keeps the 7.7mm hotkeys consistent.
Critical Repair Team to C from E
Critical Repair Operation to E from C
Defense Mode to C from Q
Demolition Charge to D from E
Kohei to K from E
Satchel Charge to D from E
Senninbari upgrade to C from V
I am a Gridkeys user, and my secret plan was to convert you barbarians using the sheer annoyance of overlapping hotkeys.

Bug Fixes:
Type 92 MG no longer retains its upgrades when decrewed.
Supported Barrage is once again available to Type 94 Mountain Gun Emplacements with the correct doctrine choices.

Opdatering: 13. juni 2020 kl. 21:16

New Content:
Steel Typhoon Strategy.

Kōhei Squad Banzai Charge missing aura fixed. Flamethrower now removes the vet 2 type 11.
Type 94 Supply Truck range increased to 25m from 24.
Senninbari weapon cooldown penalty increased to 1.375x from 1.3. Build time to .75x from .7x. Removed non-functional population bonus.

Opdatering: 18. maj 2020 kl. 17:21

Fortification update:
(TEST CHANGE) Type 92 Machine Gun is now built from the Remote Command Post (HQ) rather than the Jikyūsen Heiei (T1). It requires 7.7mm Ammunition Supplies, and gains ambush camouflage with T1 again instead of T3. Machine Gun Nests and Log Spike Fences now require T1. Razor Wire added to Fire Support Teams. Construction Teams can still build these structures without T1.

Field Infirmary sight radius lowered to 42m from 45.
MG Nest no longer has supplies around it. This is a visual change only.
Trench Type 11 is no longer given to HMG teams or snipers, as was intended. Now requires T1 and can be upgraded by Japanese units only. Cost increased to 20mp from 15 and time reverted to 10 seconds.
Type 94 Mountain Gun Emplacement now requires the Field Workshop (T3) instead of Battalion Support (T3.5). Barrage abilities renamed to mention their penetration bonus. Veterancy requirements raised to 700/1400/2800 from 600/1200/2400.
Structure maximum engineer limit standardized up to 9 or 4. This should be most noticeable with Fire Support Team Type 93 Mines.

Construction Team capture rate reduction and UI fixed.
Hidden Fortress Strategy Type 90 AT Gun replaced with Mainland Veteran Squad. The Type 90 will return!

Other Changes:
Type 99 Magnetic Anti-Tank Mines now lose range when suppressed. Type 3 Anti-Tank Grenades now do not. These changes are both consistent with other anti-tank grenades in the game.
Fire Support Team and Raider Groups both receive .8x scatter when ambushing, from .875x scatter and .8x reload respectively. The Raider Group’s Type 94 Smoke Candle has been replaced with the Type 89 Smoke Round, introduced by the Mainland Veteran Squad. Every single ability that the Raider Group started with has been replaced…
Critical Repair Team high-speed retreat issue resolved.
Gyokusai Vet 1 Banzai Aura no longer applies permanently.
Infiltrators now switch to 7.7mm rifles at vet 1 instead of gaining 20% accuracy. The DPS increase is the same.

Opdatering: 26. apr. 2020 kl. 16:47

End of the rainbow update:

While mesmerizing, the reticle for Suicide Grenades has been toned down.

Opdatering: 26. apr. 2020 kl. 15:32

The odd man in update:

Type 1 47mm crew assignment fixed. The changes from Patch 38 (30 March) are now applied correctly.
Critical Repair Teams are now able to retreat, and cannot reverse move. I have no idea how that got there.

Gyokusai Vet 2 fixed. It had been replacing the squad’s usual weapon with a slower-firing version that caused vehicle-slowing criticals. Instead of the critical being removed entirely, it was kept with the duration lowered to 1.5 seconds. The ambush version’s critical duration was raised to 12 seconds from 8. Both versions have been brought in line with other snares, with .6x rotation instead of .3x.

Radio Post Flare cost to 30mu from 40.
Concealment Network now applies to Japanese anti-tank guns and Critical Repair Teams.
Ambush Team Scoped Type 99 LMG short range burst duration to 1x from .75x.
Construction Team to cost 130mp from 140. Population to 2 from 3. Ambush bonus removed.

Suicide Grenade pre-drop delay to .75s from 1.5. No longer limited to damaging 2 entities per squad. Fixed a bug that doubled the grenade’s cost. The reticle around casualties now follows their movements.
Added missing Lunge Mine text.
Final Assault Squad now has access to Type 97 Grenades and Type 94 Smoke Candles. Veterancy requirements increased by 20%. Population to 10 from 11. Fixed an issue where the Vet 3 ability did not override the Vet 2 ability.

Opdatering: 19. apr. 2020 kl. 13:04

The Smoke Candle update!

Balance Changes:
Raider Group Vet 1 Demolition Satchel has been moved to Vet 0. Now starts on cooldown. Smoke Candle moved to Vet 1 from 0, cost decreased to 10mu from 15.

Landing Force Commander Warrior Spirit Veterancy Upgrade Banzai Aura lowered to the standard 15m radius from 20.

Infiltrator Vet 1 Camouflage toggle ability replaced with Type 94 Smoke Candles. Infiltrators benefit greatly from camouflage, but they already have powerful Commando-level camouflage. This is less redundant and gives them a tool for closing with or escaping from the enemy.

Bug Fixes:
Added range loss on suppression to several infantry abilities that needed it. Removed the same from smoke candles, since vanilla smoke grenades do not have that restriction.

UI Improvements:
Strike Officer abilities re-ordered.
Smoke Candle UI position reverted.
Fire Support voice to Osttruppen from Grenadier. This should help players tell them apart from Hohei.
CRO voice to Pioneer from Osttruppen. This one was a mistake.

Opdatering: 15. apr. 2020 kl. 18:27

Infiltrators:
Vet 1 Banzai Aura removed. Instead, Vet 1 raises rifle accuracy by 20% and unlocks the (formerly Vet 0) Camouflage ability. Type 99 AT Mine initial delay increased to 15 from 10 seconds.

Population Changes:
Chi-Ha to 8 from 9.
Gyokusai and Infiltrators to 8 from 10.
Type 92 MG to 6 from 7.

UI Improvements:
Critical Repair Team UI now mentions that they cannot capture territory.
The Type 97 81mm Mortar’s flare ability is no longer visible when night mode is not enabled.

Bug Fixes:
Landing Force Commander to 8 from 6 population.
Fire Support Land Mines are no longer missing.
Coordinated Fire Area continues to be a pain to debug, but another instance where it could break has been resolved.

Opdatering: 15. apr. 2020 kl. 10:31

Armor Overhaul:
Critical Repair Operation replaced with Critical Repair Team. Previously, this ability was used from the HQ to designate vehicles for repair engineers with extreme range. It was buggy at long range, and it was very difficult to track the ability’s progress. The Critical Repair Team is instead a unit. It costs manpower but refunds itself after successfully repairing and returning to base. Its lack of weapons, small size, inability to capture, and reduced sight mean it is useful for only 2 things: repairing vehicle criticals anywhere on the map and planting land mines. The reasons are 1: That Japanese players have no way of repairing a vehicle in the field (barring a doctrine or two), and snared vehicles can’t return to base. 2: deviousness must be rewarded at all turns.

Ha-Go/Ka-Mi main gun modified. It is no longer a slower version of the T-70’s weapon. Damage and penetration have been improved at the expense of reload time and area of effect. Anti-vehicle performance is improved, while anti-infantry is degraded.
Ha-Go armor lowered to 50 from 55. Rear armor to 30 from 35. RA improved to 16 from 17.
High-Explosive Salvo now decreases damage when active.
Ka-Mi rear armor to 24 from 28.
Chi-Ha Kai reload time to 2.5-2.75s from 3, a 14% improvement. Higher DPS should help it hold its ground against opposing armor.

Other Balance:
Gyokusai vet 1 accuracy bonus and Type 97 Grenade ability replaced. Vet 1 now gives their Banzai ability the same aura that Hohei Banzai Charges have.
With the Emplaced Weapons passive ability, Fire Support Teams are now able to build HMG bunkers.

Bug Fixes:
Coordinated Fire Area is less likely to break.

Art:
Type 94 Smoke Candle (on Strike Officer and Raider Group) moved to UI space 33 from 32. Stand and Fight! Moved to 32 from 33.
First Strike Icon updated to match the new standard.
Updated some Divine Wind Strategy ability UI.
