This mod changes ore deposits on planets to be further below the surface but also much larger. It further also changes ore distribution: Now certain ores can only be found on specific planets, and what resources can be found in asteroids is greatly reduced.

AQD - A Quantum of Depth is a project of mine, encompassing multiple small and larger mods aimed at improving the gameplay experience and eventually overhauling larger parts of the game:

Planet ore deposits
Ore deposits on planets have been altered. They are much, much larger than in vanilla but have also largely been moved further down into the ground. As a result, it is much more worth to build permanent mining outposts.

Ore depth is determined by their "tier":
  • Tier 1: Iron, Nickel, Silicon - 50-300m
  • Tier 2: Cobalt, Magnesium, Silver - 200-800m
  • Tier 3: Gold, Platinum, Uranium - 400-1000m
Lower tier ores may still appear at lower depths, however.

Ore distribution
Ore distribution has been altered significantly. The goal is to add a reason to visit all planets, which is achieved by distributing ores over the different planets. The distribution is designed with a start on the earthlike planet in mind, but with the economy update you may be able to make any planet work - or even a space start.

  • I recommend using AQD - Planetary Respawn Rovers together with this mod. It will allow you to more easily start out in a good spot close to the now harder to reach ore deposits.
  • As of patch 1.1 this mod does not directly edit the vanilla planets anymore. As a result, it is compatible with other mods changing the vanilla planets.

  • This mod is inspired by Chrido's (Scarce Resources) as well as Ghost722nd's (DeepOres) mods. I really liked their ideas but wanted to make some changes that better suited my vision for how it should be set up. Hence this mod.
  • Meridius_IX / Lucas - For writing the base script, with which the ore remapping is implemented.

All existing voxels (visible ones) stay the same, and all the ones that have not yet been revealed change back to vanilla settings.

What happens if the mod is remove midsession?

Sometimes seismic surveying doesn't work properly, so I can see only half of the ores surrounding me, this stuff appears only with 500km planets
So sometimes there are these small ore deposits around the main, big ore, I've tested your mod with bigger planets around 6 months ago and thought they were incompatible, thought these small parts of the main deposits are vanilla ore that's not modded
anyway, tysm for your work and help!

The size of the planet doesn't matter for this mod. As long as it's a vanilla planet it will work. Ores are defined as "starting from x meters below surface" so while proportionally they will be higher up due to the planet itself being bigger, I'd say that it's a good thing in this case because having them too deep makes things unnecessarily tedious.

Is there a way to generate a planet with deeper ores? im using biggerplanets plugin so i want my planets to be bigger than vanilla
is it possible? i already know that spawned planets will have vanilla ores

like i said i stop using this mod for now as it seem like its not working right for me. No matter what i have tried so thanks for the help.

You said you were using vanilla detector. Make sure whatever mode your using doesn't add a seperate mod version of the detector block in game. You also need to alter the the detectors settings in game and ensure it's actually on and the range is turned up. Also not that alot of detector mods make increasing the range cost more energy.

i also used the mod you said and it still did not show up on the planet so i dont know i stop using this mod for now.

That means you were still only searching up to 400 underground. Enera has told you what to do. Get a mod that extends ore detector range

ok i was right click mining at 200 and lower with vanilla detector and did not find any so i dont know what to do about it
