Logbot V2 AI Script

Description
Note: I haven't worked in this in about a couple of years. It has no support for African Kingdoms or Rise of the Rajas, and may have other issues that could do with fixing. It won't know about a lot of the stuff that changed like demolition rafts and eagles in Feudal.

(Sorry to those who found the previous versions, it seems I messed up copying files over to upload)

The older versions of Logbot were intended as an improvement over the old Conquerors AI, but now with the AI update it's virtually impossible to come up with something able to outclass the new default every time. Since the update I've spent a long time trying to get Logbot back up to a similar standard without going down the cheating route, and I think it's close enough now to share with others.

The major difference between Logbot and the default AI is that it will go out of its way counter whatever units you create. The default AI doesn't do this: it mixes other units into its army, but doesn't abandon its main unit type when it does so.

It doesn't have a very large variety of strategies, but it will quite often "forget" its default strategies as soon as it scouts out which unit lines you are creating.

This version has limitations in that it can only play standard random maps, and it's designed for the default resource settings. It can't currently deal with water and might build a single dock and then play as if the water never existed. Putting it into a turbo random map will cause it to play suboptimally, and I have no idea what wonder race/deathmatch will do to it now.

I have not extensively tested this version. I've spent the past year or so trying to improve various aspects of it with mixed success, and it's got to the stage now where I'm not entirely sure where its weaknesses lie.

What it can/can't play
  • It should be able to play with and without AoF, though I have only tested it with AoF so far.
  • Population cap of 75 or higher only. It does not know how to play anything below this, attempting to start a game produces an error (I think). I have tested it most at 500 pop, but also sometimes at 200.
  • Like any AI script, it cannot play migration-type maps. But then again, this version of Logbot can't swim anyway, so that doesn't really matter...
  • If you use it in a scenario, locking out building/unit types will hinder it greatly. Some may actually break it entirely.
Difficulty levels

It currently uses only the builtin difficulty levels: Hard and Hardest should be identical. Difficulties below that cause it to get a handicap to all its build times. It does not cheat on any difficulty level.

Known issues
  • The leader names it takes are for the wrong civilisations. This seems to be an engine bug rather than my fault, but if you find it offputting then taunting 210 to it will revert its name to "Logbot".
  • Some of its build orders are a little slow/inconsistent, being up to perhaps a minute or so slower than I'd like. Honestly I've had enough of experimenting with these for the time being, as I'm not sure why it varies so much.
  • It can't count any of the AoF unique units. Engine bug, not my fault. Really annoying, though.

Taunts

It can currently only deal some of the standard set of taunts. In particular, it doesn't know how to build a wonder or a navy. It doesn't support all the "hidden" taunts that the default AI does at this time, but it would not be terribly difficult to add these in if they'd be useful.

Changes

New in v2.0 (9/5/15):
  • v2.0 was built on the old script, but very nearly every part of it has been rewritten at least once to make improvements since then...

Any feedback or comments would be greatly appreciated. It has so far only really been tested against the default AI, so exactly how it will react to humans is something of a mystery to me...
