Description
A police cruiser prop from my 2012 Saxxy entry, "Whole Wheat Hardcase".

It's a cop car, created from the fusion of a 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air and a 1961 DeSoto Adventurer. It's been heavily modified, and shares much more in common with the former car than the latter. I chose these vehicles because they were often used as police cruisers both in movies and in real life during the 1960's and 70's.

I made strides to cartoonify the car, but I was reluctant to go all out. I made several passes, and ultimately settled with something that was a bit more subtle. I'd say that the style is "exaggerated", rather than toon.

In the original version that I made back in 2012, it didn't have an interior. It was intended for background shots and nothing more. That, and building an interior takes a ton of time, time I didn't have back then. I thought about adding one in with this release, but I decided it was best to wrap up this Pyroland Protector project instead.

Notes

-There is no interior to the vehicle, I neglected to make one.

-The car is rigged with functional wheels. Spin them with motion blur for added effect.

-The headlights and backlights can be turned on by switching to Skin 1.

-The windshield wipers can be animated.

-The license plates are bodygrouped, and can be toggled on or off.

-The side police stickers are bodygrouped, and can be toggled on or off.

-The license plates can be detached and posed.

-I finally got the chrome effect working again(from my other car). The bumpers, grill, hubcaps, and door knobs use a special chrome material. If this effect is too strong, you can dial this back by overriding materials and modifying the "$envmaptint" color to be darker, or disable it by turning off "$envmap".

-I've added an extra prop, "prp_police_siren_light.mdl", which can be attached to the roof of the police car.

-The non-police variant of the car is paintable.

-It's been scaled to fit the TF2 team.

It's been too long since I worked on this submission, so I don't really remember what my reasoning was when I put this together. I think the light was packaged separate due to an animation issue I had at the time.

I am no longer workshopping, and my workshop is content frozen, meaning I won't be making any changes to these submissions. Sorry.

If anyone wants to make an interior for this vehicle and reupload it, they are welcome to do so.

also about lights: isn't it easier to include it in this pack right way? or does it not work that way? i havent used SFM yet so i cant tell how it works

will you ever add interiors? would be cool if you could animate policemen walking out from the car (best english ever) so adding even the simplest interior with the ability to open doors would be incredibly cool!
