Description
PURPLE HAZE - FIRST HUFF - MISSION 2 IS FINALLY HERE

Warning - This isn't for you if:

you're looking for a "me see me kill" scenario with minimal interaction with intel, map and just run and gun.
Casuals this won't be your cup of tea - in the land of 2x speed youtube videos and tik tok brains I doubt long elaborate vocal exchange will keep you entertained.

SCENARIO:

Following the botched kidnapping of one of the local villagers by the VC and the discovery of heavy weapons being smuggled near Camp Jackson things have been slowly heating up.

You're about to be sent out on a patrol down a remote valley in search for the enemy. Dust off your boots, load your weapon and get ready for a long mission.

You are the dominant force in the AO and you're gonna have to play strategically to avoid getting your ass kicked!

Navigate around - look for caches and don't rely on the map to show everything that's under the green canopy! Surprises may be lurking down there.

First things out the door - DISCLAIMER !!!!

This mission contains material that may be considered offensive, controversial, or triggering to some players. This includes, but is not limited to, themes of violence, discrimination, sexual content, and strong language. The content reflects the historical and cultural context in which it is based upon and may not align with contemporary values or sensibilities.

Player discretion is advised. If you are sensitive to such topics, you may wish to consider this before proceeding. This has not been endorsed or supported by the SOG DLC team and is a personal project of mine.

There you go - you've been warned.

WHAT IS PURPLE HAZE?

Purple Haze is a story telling heavy campaign based on a fictional SF camp near the Laotian border. You will play the role of a newly appointed soldier sent in this faraway outpost to try and push back on the slow but steady rise of the Vietcong. This won't be an easy cushy assignment - expect the "full fat" experience of MACV-SOG operations (S&D, snatch and grab, assassination, sysops, wiretapping, LRRP, night raids and many more surprises).

WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT IT?

This will throw you into the thick of the war alongside a persistent cast of 16 unique characters with their own motivations, backstory, quirks and voices. The human element has been lackluster in most stories told by BI in their Arma Series (Excluding of course the missions of SOG) and I wanted to import some of the big screen emotions and screenplay to the video game format (Yes I do feel turbo pretentious while writing these words).

Each mission will carry the legacy of the previous ones and your actions will have effects on the wider universe you operate in. While this is a fictional series it will be grounded in realism (with a few liberties) and will stick as much as possible to the times it tries to recreate with SOG Prairie Fire.

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?

1. A fully scripted, fully voiced mission
2. A brainy series of missions and tasks requiring you to identify friend from foe rather than just me see me kill
3. Extensive use of combined arms assets
4. A two hour long plus mission minimum
5. Replayable mission

Please show your support and appreciation if you wish for this series to continue - I have spent about a 100 hours developing it, voicing it and testing it.

BUGS:

1. The voices can be lackluster at times - This is all done in house with the help of my trusted AI associate.
2. Walking is required at base to allow scripts to fire properly!
3. I have tested every triggers 4 times and should fire in order
4. If you FF your teammates, civilians and allies Mission will fail!

Purple Haze III ? I'm asking, for I enjoyed the first two a lot!

Also had problems at the end, with the saving every couple seconds and no Huey. But well, I always load up a ton of mods, so this has to be expected.

But other then that - this is ARMA III perfection. As was the first part. I loved every second of it. The distinct characters, the story, the dialogue, the music, the things you can discover, the suspense. The mission also made me appreciate the beauty of the map it is based on.
An absolute must-play. Can't wait to see more.

Perfect as usual!

@mason77 - Thanks for the feedback - It is an impossible balance to find between story and action dictated by the episodic format I have to release them. Good to know for the helicopter - It is supposed to land at base and wait until the mission is over, unless I did touch the gauge (maybe) then the consumption ratio is maybe busted. Good spot! Mission 3 is in development and with its own twist and Mission 4 is in pre-dev too. Don't forget to leave a rating :-)! See you in the jungle !

Great attention to detail, great atmosphere. The briefing was so good. It builds up on the first mission's story nicely. Telling the CIDG story is very appropriate cause that's what the SF did in Nam most of the time. A couple of notes from my side:

1. The mission is long and that's perfectly fine. However, I find the number of firefights too much for the small recon team on the recon mission. It's kinda immersion breaking, I had firefights most of the time. More appropriate for an S&D mission. I know it's not easy to strike a balance, too little action and it will be boring to some. Just my two cents anyway.
2. I think I found an issue with the heli not showing up at the end. For some reason it was empty on fuel. I accessed it through Zeus, filled up fuel and everything worked almost perfectly. It did not want to land and pick up the team until I ordered the team to board the chopper. But the hot extraction was so good.

Eagerly awaiting next one :)

@sensei.tokugawa Thank you for your kind message - Vietcong is indeed the inspiration for my pet project and I'm glad I found someone that appreciates the depth rather than just me see me shoot. Mission 3 is development - you will see the updates posted on my youtube channel. Do flag any bugs.

Definitely a high quality work of passion here, we've just passed WP Alberny, catching very distinct vibest of the first Vietcong game made by Pteranodon that I played over 20 years ago, its only drawback being the tunnel mode of movement ... And here we are, twenty tears later and this beauty appears all of a sudden. Just one wish I'd like to make - keep'em coming and we'll work with the Viet Cong; find'em, grease'em, search'em and leave'em ... and mind you all : I support the just wars of national liberation ...

hi dunklik

op was very fun and immersive, the music, the voice lines, 10/10

facing same issue as the others where at the end the heli is a no show, it doesn't take off from base

@Hans(z) - Thanks for letting me know. Mapping those cliffs was a real pain in the ass and I'm sure a few of those design flaws slipped through the crack. I see which one it is I'll swing a correction tomorrow. Mission 3 is already in development as we speak however work load will come to a crawl with the holiday season. Regarding the exfil I was wondering if the helicopter got buggered but since it was at base then its not that ... I guess I'll just drop brand new triggers and update the damn thing. Sometimes Arma throws a fit ... Anyway thanks for playing. If you fancy a bit of WW2 I did a 3 part campaign about the paratroopers on D-Day with the Spearhead DLC! Same style!
