(6 - 8) Hill 400

Named Hill 400 by the Americans, this mound, deep within the Hürtgen Forest, formed a place of defence and strategy for the various skirmishes that occurred as the Battle of the Bulge unfolded. The executive decision to liberate the Hill came near the completion of a radio bunker, seated at the summit - this tower, used by the Wehrmacht could orchestrate untold control over the region. When shelling and air assault failed, infantry of the 2nd Ranger Battalion stormed the position, past half-constructed defences and trenches, mere hours away from completion. In the following four days however, defence of Hill 400 would be theirs to survive.
