Improve your vehicles with the Vanilla Vehicles Expanded - Upgrades, a mod which offers a revolutionary enhancement to your vehicle management in-game. This mod introduces a comprehensive upgrade system that allows players to customize and enhance their vehicles using valuable resources.

Here’s what you can expect:

- Tailored Customization: Each vehicle in your fleet can be individually upgraded with unique enhancements, from reinforced armor and engine covers to offroad tires and cargo expansions.

- Impactful Choices: Every upgrade comes with significant advantages but requires strategic resource investment, making your decisions impactful as you develop vehicles suited to various tasks.

- Dynamic Visuals: Upgrades are not just statistical; they also change the appearance of your vehicles, adding layers like armored treads and upgraded exhaust systems that visually reflect your modifications.

- Diverse Enhancements: Choose from a variety of enhancements that boost speed, improve armor, increase cargo capacity, and more, each tailored to different vehicle types, from explorers and haulers to combat-ready tanks.

We’re excited to utilise what Vehicles Framework has to offer, and you can expect more vehicle upgrades to be added to this mod later down the line.

None of the Tier 3 vehicles are currently planned to have access to the upgrade system. That is because the Upgrade system exists to:

a) Bridge the gap between Tier 1 and Tier 2, making Tier 1s usable and valid in late game.

b) Slightly benefit Tier 2 to make them more specialized in late game.

Tier 3 vehicles are already as specialized and powerful as we like them. As such, upgrades won’t exist to make them even stronger.

This mod has undergone testing, but there may still be issues that you come across. It’s essential that you report any issues related to Vehicles Framework directly to Phil via the Framework mod page - not to me. I can’t fix these issues.

Q: Where can I find change logs?
A: Check change notes.

Q: Why are there no upgrades to flying vehicles?
A: Upgrading flying vehicles has not been our priority just yet. When more flying-related mechanics make it into Vehicles Framework, we will reconsider our stance.

Q: Why is this a separate mod?
A: Because each upgrade essentially brings a lot of kb of textures - each upgrade is the equivalent to a brand new vehicle, filesize-wise. Use this mod only if your machine can run it.

Q: How do I upgrade vehicles?
A: Simply select a vehicle and press the Upgrades button.

Q: Does it work with existing vehicles on existing saves?
A: Yes it does!

Q: Why no upgrades for boats?
A: For the same reason there are no upgrades to flying vehicles. Other than mounting a gun or increasing speed, there really isn’t anything new and original upgrades can bring to boats.

Q: Can I add it mid save?
A: Yes!

Q: CE compatible?
A: No idea. Ask CE.

I have the mats, but noone will work on it? Cant manually have them do it either. No errors.

I cannot replicate the problem you had @veryinky which of the turrets did you put on your mule.

It seems to have been reported in the bug report discussions here. Apparently Phil has a fix for it in the dev-version of the vehicle framework and it seems to be related to the turret upgrade on the highwayman.
The Mule issue may be seperate.

I also had my upgraded highwayman lose reference to itself and throw errors for every second of frame generation. The car still had visuals but would no longer turn and the turret did not work nor did it show up in the caravan screen.
It seems this mod does not survive saving and loading. The car has the name and color it should have and even looks to remember the upgrades but somehow still loses its reference.

It really does seem like this mod must hate the Highwayman

This is an issue ive experienced with the Highwayman aswell, I just stopped using it- But yeah, for some reason it sometimes deletes itself.

Highwaymen completely disappeared something about broken references and when I reloaded a save it was like it never existed

Yep, same. Works fine while you play but doesn't save. Throws a bunch of red exception errors on loading, "[VehicleFramework] Unable to unlock Vehicles.CompUpgradeTree post-load for Mule. Exception: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object". New game, started on fresh install on august 3rd , with Harmony,
Vehicle Framework, Vanilla Vehicles Expanded and Vanilla Vehicles Expanded - Upgrades. Built a Mule, gave it a full upgrade (except for the external engine which has great stats but looks silly), did a test run to a nearby settlement to trade and saved. Today I load and it's giving me errors and the Mule has the same appearance and base stats.

Also happens to me, having the upgrades on vehicles doesn't stick around after a reload, and if you remove the upgrades to then try and upgrade them again, you're just left with the same values, so you're kinda just nerfing your vehicles instead of upgrading them, when you reload.

@Polyethyleneglykol - Can confirm, this keeps happening to my Mule's for some reason, havent had it happen to anything else yet
