Description
A small update from Mlie's work to make it work for 1.5

fixed bugs & new features:
-fix the problem that make inventory tabs never display for sentient animals.
-pen animal will not be block by doors and fences when become sentient now.
-sentient pack animals now unloading cargo by themselves when their caravan return to colony.
-fix the problem that make fence-blocked sentient animals got trapped in the pen when forming caravan.

Adds a "Sentient" hediff in the brain that animals can very rarely randomly spawn with in the wild, or can be added with surgery by a highly skilled surgeon.

  • Animals with the sentient hediff can do jobs like hauling, cleaning, nursing.
  • They are always 100% trained with the most advanced training level, and their training never degrades.
  • They have the ability to talk.
  • Sentient is passed on 100% if both parents are sentient, or 1/4th of a chance if only one is sentient.
  • They're draftable

Can sentient animals caravan without human pawns? Does this mod work well with VFE: Insectoids 2?

Secondary Issue, Not able to bring up any right click functions on sentient animals.

Large modpack, not sure if its a conflict.

Also has the same UI disappearing bug present. Unfortunately means i can't really use the mod for these two reasons.


Super excited for the mod otherwise.

I have been sitting here trying to figure out why my Animals aren't talking and Hospitality is probably the culprit then as I have it too! Was hoping coming here may help thanks @ArtyomAbrosimov

Hospitality mod is clashing with interactions. To be specific: CanInitiateRandomInteraction and CanReceiveRandomInteraction

@tomcmorgan I've made a save without sentient animals and fully trained the starting dog. when adding sentience back in the animal still lost its UI.

I can still click on the animals and have them attack things with both this test and my initial testing.

I noticed something about my animal's UI disappearing after drafting.
This might be a coincidence, but the animals I trained before adding this mod can be drafted normally and I can right-click on enemies to make them attack. In contrast, the animals I can't order to attack with a right-click have their UI disappear after drafting.
I haven't tested this properly, so it might just be a coincidence.

Understandable :steamthumbsup:. I ran into the disappearing UI bug a while back and had the time today to minimize the amount of mods needed to reproduce the issue.

For reference this is a log with all of my mods enabled. turning off "InspectGizmoGrid:DrawingspectGizmoGridFor GetGizmos" does not bring back the UI element for drafting with this mod setup.
