Homeworld Baserunner Suspension MK-1 and MK-2 (Vanilla and Offroad)

Описание
On the bleeding edge of suspension tech, i bring you my latest prototype design.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Select a base and add cockpit of your choice from the selection provided (or set up your own by adding the same grouping), remove any base you are not using
2. Remove the red blocks
3. Add the programmable block requested from your coice.
4. Recompile the scripts after your base is ready

For the non script users:
- Add "enough" gyroscopes and thrusters to allow manual control
- Turn down friction on the Wheels group until gyroscope control works-
Alternatively:
Use MK-2 Base type, Add wheels group with following:
- Increase/Reset/Decrease steering override
- Increase/decrease propulsion override

Info:
This one uses a rotor arm as a spring to give the utmost travel.
Aswell as a 5x5 large grid wheel mounted to a short 3x3 suspension.

When you add weight to the vehicle, remember to tune the suspension by adding torque to the master rotors and strength to the Short wheel suspension 1x1

The MK-1 uses Scripts to align the wheels to ground.
The MK-2 uses mechanical subgrids to align the wheels to ground

Please credit me if used in your own creation, also please show me what you make with it if you use it!

Thanks to Whiplash141 and Tekk for their amazing subgrid wheel script's that makes things like this possible!

Further thanks to Whiplash 141 for the "Rotor angle duplicator" script, which made this design so much more polished

DLC blocks in use:
- Cylindrical Column - MK-2 mechanical suspension strut
- Neon Tubes - MK-2 Mechanical suspension strut to avoid the bottom and top Strut ever merging together (Clang reduction)
- Offroad Wheels - Both MK-1 and 2

interesting. will definitely go with mk1 then, at least for now

It is indeed a very functional piece, there are two perpendicular rods connected between the wheel and the body. Its function is to align the wheel suspension to be level with the base at any part of the suspension travel to keep steering aligned correctly to the body. (its only relevant for the wheels that will be steering, the wheels used purely for torque can be mk-1's or just remove the rotor all together making it a fixed wheel)

It is a lot more pcu intensive due to the added forces applied. i would reccomend the MK-1 to start fleshing your design out, and opting for the MK-II if you need to go scriptless for some reason or want to have it more "realistic"

i was planning to use mk2 offroad, but if the small grid is functional, i will likely do the mk1 unless you can explain how it works. im interested to learn how to make such things
kennet0508  [автор] 11 ян. в 20:34
so the small grid is MK-2 mechanical
kennet0508  [автор] 11 ян. в 20:32
theres 2 versions, mk-1 and 2
MK-1 is simpler and relies on script to angle the wheels, MK-2 is mechanical and doesnt use scripts for alignement

in my efforts to cut it in half i learned it has small grid. is that just decorative or is it functional?
TrueWhiteKnight 11 ян. в 17:55
yeah, im gonna flex seal it and saw it in half, add a few blocks between then with the power of flex seal it will be good as new. if i ever upload it to the workshop ill paste a link here :)

Thank you! id love to see what you do with it!
Ps, i noticed that the baserunner i took inspiration from has a wider base and shorter arms, so pro tip is to mix and match this a bit to your own design's needs.
