Welcome to Gun Nut - KS-23 Shotgun!

The KS-23 is a Soviet pump shotgun renowned for its large caliber, firing a 23 mm shotgun shell, makes it the largest-bore shotgun in modern use. This mod adds 2 real variants of the KS-23 and a custom charged version.

Gun Nut is a mod series that focuses on giving the player the ultimate upgrades for real life and fictional weapons while trying to keep a vanilla feel in balance and artwork. This mod can be played in vanilla or with combat extended.









The KS-23 is a more poweful, more expensive and somewhat slower pump shotgun. The charged version features a secondary Ion(EMP) shot if you have VFE or, if you are using CE, it can be loaded with regular ammo as well as charged ammo.

Camo/Texture settings


There is two ways to choose camos for your guns:
  • With the settings menu you can change, per gun, the "base" weapon texture. The benefits of this is that it gives you more control but all the "base" weapons will be changed.

  • With ideology styles you can change the texture of all the weapons crafted by the faction. This option is good for RP but it lacks the control of the first option.

  • Both options can be used at the same time without problem.

  • A mod that allows you to select more than 3 styles like Vanilla Ideology Expanded - Memes and Structures can help with the second option.

  • A mod that allows you to craft with a style like Craft with Color is also a good option.





- This mod is compatible with Combat Extended. Replaces the KS-23M in CEA.

- This mod makes use of Vanilla Expanded Framework for some of its optional features like multiverbs.

- This mod inlcudes support for Muzzle Flash.

- This mod includes .dds textures to increase performance when using Graphics Settings+ or similar.



Q: Can the mod be added to existing saves?
A: Yes.

Q: Can the mod be removed from existing saves?
A: Is never a good practice to remove mods from ongoing saves. That said, this mod is quite simple and you should be able to fully remove it if you do it properly.

Q: Where do I craft these new weapons?
A: At the machining table or at the fabrication bench if they are tagged as spacer, charged or something of the sort.

Q: Why does the recipe for some of the weapons requires chemfuel/wood?
A: This may only be a CE thing but It is because most of this weapons have plastic, polymer or wooden parts and I like to reflect that in the crafting cost of the weapon.

Q: Are the weapons properly balanced? (Vanilla)
A: I try to balance my weapons as good as I can, this balance is mostly done comparing it to vanilla or vanilla expanded weapons, however, if you think a weapon should be tweaked let me know in the comments and I'll try to adjust it.

Q: Are the weapons properly balanced? (CE)
A: Same stuff as in the previous question but this time around weapons should feel much more balance in general thanks to the ballistic system from CE and the rules it follows to balance weapons.

Forgot to mention I’m on 1.5. The only large vanilla expanded mods I use are VFE Empire, psycasts expanded and the furniture mods. Also using muzzle flash.

Getting a lot of these errors, using all gun nut mods with light vanilla expanded mods and KS23 is the only one giving me these

XML error: <modId>Harkon.GunNut.KS23Shotgun</modid> doesn’t correspond to any field in the type PatchOperation.

Same/similar errors for the camo variants

<key>KS23M_Camo</key> doesn’t correspond to any field in type PatchOperation

<defaultValue>HRK_KS23L_Black</defaultValue> doesn’t correspond to any field in the type PatchOperation

Attempted to use PatchOperation directly; patch will always fail

For some reason, the charge KS-23 can use both 23x75mm charged as well as regular 23x75mm cartridges? Is that a bug or intended feature?
