These, rather egregiously given that they are just holes in the ground, cannot be fired over.

Hmm... I hadn't planned to

But depending on how easy it would be, I suppose I could try to add a more advanced "boiling pond" of sorts: something that costs metal, components, and a power source, but produces salt much faster than the current 4-5 days...

Only problem is this was never my mod, and my skill level is nowhere near the original authors'
That said, they did include the full source code, so I might just give it a try sometime

Are you adding any features to this now? If so, salt can also be produced by boiling the seawater instead of waiting for it to evaporate (I have actually done it). That would be a nice mechanic to include in this mod.

Any plans to update this to 1.6?
