Bad Spire Modpack

Description
The Bad Spire mod pack is a full-swing meme mod for Slay the Spire designed to include bad, chaotic, memes, and meme-support cards, relics, and potions: 41 new colourless cards and 30 meme cards for each character.

Haven't had enough funny and ridiculous runs? Pick up bad cards and meme your way up the spire against misfortune, and win with the most ridiculous combos possible.

Each part of the mod pack, bad spire, bad ironclad, bad silent, bad defect, and bad watcher are standalone mods. Enable them individually in the ModTheSpire launcher to enjoy the full experience.


Bad Spire

Start each run with a blight that gives you additional colourless cards, and play with an extended colourless pool with 41 brand new cards. Find bad relics and potions up your way as you pick up cards that generate completely random cards, permanently modify your deck, and wander into empowered events that give you rare but powerful cards. Pick up as many of them as possible so you can play with the colourless archetype and the forbidden Sadistic Nature archetype.


Bad Ironclad

Convert your cards and change their type to suit your needs and benefit from all the card type synergies in this mod: attack cards for the Clash archetype, skills to play with Corruption, and statuses to play with the Statuses archetype. Upgrade your cards multiple times to amp up your Searing Blow. Tag your cards with Strike to finally boost your Perfected Strikes without having to worry about removing strikes. Take damage frequently to ramp up your own damage and healing throughout combats, and fill your deck with statuses, including the new bleeding status to turn them against your enemies with the new powers that benefit from them.


Bad Silent

Play with this brand new discard package that discards and retrieves cards for you to reuse over and over. Track your discard pile to bring them back to your draw pile to quickly cycle your best cards. Use special discard synergy cards that come back when discarded. Discard cards multiple times in a turn to charge up your damage and block cards to survive the worst turns. Once you are finished, use the unplayable archetype cards to bring your dead hand to life and finish off your foes.


Bad Defect

Pick up common cards with the common card archetype and cycle them quickly to power up the rest of your deck. Spam play powers to quickly scale up and destroy your enemies with the most terrifying storm and protect yourself with the power archetype. Wield the power of four brand new orbs and dramatically empower your unique orb cards. Unlock the secret strength of Couroutine for double play on all of your cards that comes at a price, and see many old and removed cards come back with new faces.


Bad Watcher

Make use of the neglected mark and vigor archetype with brand new cards that let you stack mark and vigor without needing to consume them. Retain special unplayable cards in your hand to gain a lasting advantage against your enemies. Turn the downside of blasphemy into an upside by playing cards that prevent you from dying from these effects, and have them synergise with the powerful die next turn archetype.


Special Notes

To fit the mods' theme, the following base game cards have been modified:
  • Rainbow now channels one of each orb in the mod.
  • Heatsinks is now Innate
  • White Noise is now a common card.
  • Hello World is now a common card.
  • Mummified Hand is now a boss relic.
  • Blasphemy no longer exhausts.

FAQ

The mod changes my started deck and base game content, I don't want that.

You can go to the config of the Bad Spire mod to turn off these changes (requires restarting the game). The Bad Spire mod is required for the config to apply to the bad character mods.

Some friends and I really liked playing with these bad cards. Starting as just one single joke card two years ago, I ended up keeping making these bad mods and ended up covering all characters and colourless cards.

These cards are ridiculous, but if you're willing to let them take the wheel they can give you an unique experience. They're meant to be bad, but they aren't meant to give you a bad time.


I start with this weird white thing under my relic bar, what's that?

Playing with Bad Spire will give you a blight that lets combats (and orrery) drop additional colourless card rewards. If you only want to play coloured bad runs, you can turn Bad Spire off.


I played a card that generates a random card and it gave me a card from another colour, is that supposed to happen?

Yes, random that are coloured red means that you can get ANY card without restrictions like healing. This means that you can get cards from any colour, statuses, curses, event cards, and even Wish option cards.


Some cards apply Frail and make enemies lose Dexterity, how do those work?

Dexterity and Frail now work on enemies when they spend the turn to block (for example Spheric Guardian). They don't affect their block gain from Powers just like on players, this means metalicise and plated armour won't be affected.


My status cards can now be upgraded, what did that?

Bad Ironclad enables status card upgrades. If you don't need to play with it, you can turn it off.


Some of the base game cards I play seem like that they've been altered, what happened?

All the changes to base game cards are in list in the section above.


I have this card that removes my whole deck in my deck. How did it get in there?

You have a 20% chance to start each run with it. You can check your deck when talking to Neow to see if you have it.


How does "draw 1.5 cards" work even?

You draw a card, and store the 0.5 cards as a buff. The next time you draw 0.5 cards, that buff gets consumed to draw you a card.


How does "draw 1 card, if fatal" work even?

If playing that card kills an enemy through any effect (juggernaut, fire breathing, etc), the fatal triggers.



The game froze when I picked The Prism.

This means that a new colour of cards that another mod added doesn't have cards of a specific rarity. If that happens, please tell me and I'll see how I can work around that.

mayhem orb on defect breaks when you have no cards in draw and no cards in discard. It just freezes the game, you can still use potions but cards won't be played.

I've found that if you retrive an evicerate (7x3, -1 cost for each discard) it'll automatically be set to 3 cost again, which REALLY sucks.

what an extremely frustrating yet endearing mod. I just spent the last couple hours bashing my head against the desk trying to get to the second act boss and it was totally worth it.

@Charlie Confuse uses the base game's effect only so I don't think it's that particular card. Do you remember other cards (especially powers) you played during your run?

I'm playing as the Defect,my cards get stuck on the screen without being played. It could be caused by the Confuse+ I played, I'm not sure. The first time this happened the turn after I played it, after I started the fight again and played Confuse+, and this time it worked. However the next turn it happened again.

Changes to starter decks and base game cards can now be disabled.
The drop rate of colourless cards can now be changed.

would it be possible to also have the Die Next Turn prevention also stop the vanilla Blasphemer effect just in case another mod uses it?
