I finally moved my lazy ass to create a full retexture of everything in Save Our Ship 2. It was a glorious and huge undertaking, we're talking hundreds of textures that needed to be remade - but it's for a good cause. I wanted to play with SoS2 for a long time, but textures were always keeping me from trying: I like my mods blending together nicely, and the art style of SoS2 was simply not in any way, shape or form similar to that of vanilla expanded mods.

So I sat down and tinkered, and worked, and experimented, and designed a brand new reskin that I hope at least some of you will enjoy. I worked closely with the SoS2 team which were more than aware of my endeavour - in fact they encouraged it!

This mod is a full retexture of Save Our Ship 2, and as such it requires you to have Save Our Ship 2 installed and loaded before this mod.

It's my birthday today, so in a spirit of giving I figured you guys and gals would enjoy this, so there ya go.



This mod should be compatible with everything. It’s a retexture. Of course, if you’re already running some sort of retexture for Save Our Ship 2, it will not work.

Please report any bugs in the comment section below.

Please check if the bug also appears without this retexture. If it does, it's not on me to fix it - I don't plan to fix SoS2 bugs, ask them!
















Please note: there are other textures retextured, not included in this description: for example, projectiles and filth textures.



Q: Did you retexture walls/floors/roofs too?
A: I did indeed!

Q: Is this mod CE compatible?
A: Yes, it’s a simple texture pack.

Q: Is there a performance impact?
A: No. The biggest processing power the game utilises is to calculate bills, pawn movement etc. Inserting images into the game doesn't account for any FPS drops.

Q: I don’t like a particular retexture that you did. How can I turn it off?
A: Since this mod alters drawSizes of majority of items and structures to better fit the game, removing the individual textures is not as easy, sorry.

Q: Is this mod save game compatible?
A: It should be!

Q: Why did you decide to retexture SoS2?
A: I’m a big fan of Mr Samuel Streamer. I watched his Captain Bucko’s playthrough in space, which inspired me to bring SoS2 closer to Vanilla Expanded art style. Now I’m awaiting in anticipation for him to do another SoS2 playthrough, so if you want to help out, go to his videos, like them and say ‘Oskar demands, Samuel provides’. He will know what it means.

it kinda work in 1.6 there is just some textures that have reverted back to the old textures and others are these textures

i too love SOS2 i have no issues with ether party and i would love to see this be updated and i would call VE Gravships 3rd party too if they where not using the games dlc ship system but do doubt they are building off the dlc ship system so i wouldn't call it a 3rd party ship mod as well and VE Gravships will not have all its content on release so your correct it will be a while before its ever close to SOS2 i think its split in 3 part major updates also it depends on what SOS2 adds or removes or changes witch could break this mod i'm just speculating if they do update this its a win for us if not i completely understand why they will not

VE expanding Odyssey's gravship is three Jupiters away from "making their own SOS" so to say. "3rd party ship mod" also sounds fairly rough.

i think it won't get updated as VE is planning on making there own SOS mod by expanding the grav ships so i do not see the point in updating this retexture mod for a 3rd party ship mod when VE is planning on making there own ship mod

Oskar meant he wouldn't make more textures, not that it won't get 1.6. Either way, SOS2 doesn't currently have 1.6 on the workshop. (I dont know about GitHub)

Oskar said he wouldn't be updating this mod for the time being, its potentially possible that this will receive another update, but that probably depends on if the VE team gets time
