(Z) Low Profile Ship Weapons

Description



This mod alters the bounding box size of ship turrets so you can place blocks closer to them. They're duplicates of the vanilla definitions with unique Subtype IDs, so that NPC ships with vanilla weapons function properly. These changes have been applied to the following weapons:

  • Large Grid: Gatling Turret - Missile Turret - Assault Cannon Turret - Artillery Turret
  • Small Grid: Assault Cannon Turret - Autocannon Turret - Gatling Turret - Missile Turret

Altering the bounding box size of the small grid Gatling Turret broke the functionality of the conveyors on the sides. The large conveyor port on the bottom is the only one that works for that block. However, in the future I plan to release it with a modified version to fix the conveyor ports. The names of all the weapons have been suffixed with 'LP'.

This mod don't touch the Height of the bounding box sadly.

This should become a vanilla feature, the collision boxes have annoyed me & I'm sure many others.

Ya, it is not compatible with WeaponCore, it thinks the Turrets are Energy weapons and therefor won't load ammo. I believe it something to so with the ID of the weapon, and WeaponCore reads it as not needing ammo

It's not compatible with WeaponCore, I think. The ammo feed failure is a giveaway.

Had to revert to the vanilla turrets as the Low-Profile version won't accept any ammunition. (Not tried small grid only large grid.) Does it require a different sort of ammunition? I have weapons core if that makes a difference.

I added this to my list and if you play with progression system on., you build an assembler but the game still will not'allow you to build these turrets. Says research needed. Progression tree might need a fix for this.

The issue is because the small gatling's conveyor empties are on the outer cube cells of the original 5x5 bounding box. When I decreased the bounding box to 3x3, I knew it would render the conveyors inert so to speak. So it's not a matter of code, it's a matter of importing all of its models into blender and adjusting the empties. I'll get around to it eventually but I've been very busy lately. Until then we'll have to use the large port on the bottom ;)
