Realistic Atmospheres

Description
Realistic Atmospheres

Did you know that in vanilla Space Engineers, The height and density of the atmospheres of Earth and Mars are exactly the same? That's a little boring (and unrealistic), so I've changed all of the vanilla planets' atmospheres, to add more variety and realism to the game.

This also includes the visual changes from the Improved Atmosphere Visuals mod. If you just want the visual changes, then you should go use that mod.

Also, just as a quirk with the way Space Engineers creates planet spawn points, the respawn pods on Mars and Triton will not be available, since their atmospheric density is too low. As far as I know, there's nothing I can do about this, it's hard-coded into the game that way. Sorry!

Modded Planets

I want to make this clear: This will not affect modded planets. This mod changes the definition files for the vanilla planets, and nothing more. Furthermore, there is no reason to modify the atmosphere values for modded planets. Modders create the same kind of files that I edited when they create new planets. I changed the vanilla atmosphere values because I think Keen could have done a better job. If you think a specific modder could have done a better job with their planets, then take it up with them.

Notes:
  • The atmosphere height values listed are based on the sizes of the planets in the default "Star System" world. You can spawn in any planet at any size, and atmosphere height scales with planet radius.
  • The real Europa does technically have an atmosphere, but it is so incredibly thin that for gameplay purposes it is non-existent.
  • Some planets have had their weather modified slightly to fit better with their altered atmosphere.

Compatibility

This mod will not be compatible with anything that alters planet generator settings. This would include mods that alter ore distribution, gravity, atmosphere, or weather for vanilla planets. Due to this game's not-so-great modding system, I have to make a separate version of this mod for compatibility with any other mod. Check the list below for the ones that I have done that for.

This is compatible with Real Orbits as long as you have this mod at higher priority (higher in the list), and then you edit a world's save file to change the gravity falloff for all planets to 2, or use a pre-made world with gravity falloff already set to 2.

This is not compatible with Better Stone. I might get around to making a compatibility version at some point though.

If there are any other mods that you would want compatibility with, let me know in the comments and I will consider it.

Compatibility Versions

Is this affects the new planet encounters from contact update?

I'm a bit late lol but I more or less agree with Tal. Since this mod is themed for realism, it would be nice if it either affected gravity as well, or there was another mod version that also affected gravity. It would be nice if I didn't have to manually edit the file for that every time I make a new world.

@Tal he should not do anything of the sort, we the consumer of mods should be happy when something changed to the better and not have to pay of it instead of sulking due to our unfullfilled unwarranted expectations.
Even less so should he have to do it asfor

you know there is a search function in the workshop

This is not realistic. If you change atmosphere you should also change gravity of the planet. Because with the vanilla gravity these planets MUST have atmospheres.

Yep, this mod works great with Space Just Got Real. Never heard of rendering improved so I can't say whether that will work

Does this mod work with space just got real and rendering improved?

Maybe give Europa 0.5% Atmospheric Density Or 1%, just so it has something?

I was wondering, this mod will work with "deep ores" mod?
If not, should I wait for a fix?

Yes - with only 10% air density, wind turbines are mostly ineffective on Mars.

Something I discovered is that this mod prevents wind turbines from working on Mars. Is this an intended feature?
