Fallout New Vegas Early Game Skill Book Route

Early Game Skill Book route for those of us who are obsessionals about minmaxxing and/or would rather reach certain skill checks without unnecessary skill investment.

Skill Books

This guide covers a sensible skill book route prior to the beginning of the second act of the game (The Strip) - there are scarcely few guides covering this, and those that I have found are incomplete.

1. Sneak Book in Goodsprings in Trudy's House - useful to convince Trudy to fight in Ghost Town Gunfight for Low Sneak Players.

2. Speech Book on Second Floor of NCRF Admin Building in non-locked room - get this book ideally before completing Ghost Town Gunfight if siding with Goodsprings. While you can eliminate the Powder Gangers once you complete Ghost Town Gunfight, oftentimes the commotion of fighting them will knock this book around and make it unobtainable by making it clip through the ground.

3. Repair Book and Explosives Book in Sloan Barracks, one on a bookshelf the other on a locker shelf - Explosives book oftentimes crucial in convincing Easy Pete to join the Ghost Town Gunfight

4. Survival Book in the Lone Wolf Radio Station (South of Goodsprings)

5. Barter Book in the Bison Steve Hotel, Primm - on top of a safe, first floor, in the gift shop.

6. Medicine Book in Hell's Motel, Mesquite Mountain Crater, Southwest of Primm - on higher difficulties the Ghoul population make this difficult to obtain, I recommend avoiding the ghouls.

7. Guns Book in Nevada Highway Patrol Station

8. Unarmed Book in Nipton Road Reststop

9. Explosives Book in the Mojave Outpost - bar/canteen area on a shelf below the bar - pickup the book with Z and carry it somewhere where you can covertly steal it.

10. Lockpicking Book in Prospectors Den.

11. Melee Book in Hidden Supply Cave - 50 lockpick required

12. Science Book in Nipton Town Hall, Mayor's Office

13. Lockpicking Book in Wolfhorn Ranch

14. Survival Book in Matthews Husbandry Farm - east of Wolfhorn Ranch

15. Sneak Book in Camp Searchlight, East Church Basement - challenging early game.

16. Melee Book in Cottonwood Cove, Aurelius's office - if you choose to brave it through Camp Searchlight then obtain this book.

17. Medicine Book in Ranger Andy's Bungalow, Novac.

18. Medicine Book on a bed in Ignacio's Room, Helios One.

19. Science Book from Ignacio upon completing That Lucky Old Sun by committing power to the regional grid - Challenging, yet possible, early game.

20. Two Energy Weapons Books in Repconn HQ - Upon passing the 188 Trading Post and entering the South Vegas area head West to Repconn HQ. Acquiring these books does not require any investment in lockpicking or science. The first book is on the third floor on a desk near an Easy (or very easy terminal). The second is behind a very hard locked door on the first floor, however if you go to the second floor there is a room with a hole in the floor which leads into this first floor room, bypassing the locked doors. The Skill Book is on top of the safe - the unlocked terminal inside this room near the door will unlock the door (the outside terminal is locked).

21. Sneak Book in NCR Sharecropper Farm, main building.

22. Melee Book in Cannibal Johnson's Cave

23. Unarmed Book in Fisherman's Pride Shack - East of the last book, surrounded by Lakelurks

24. Barter Book in Cap Counterfeiting shack - a minute north of the last book.

25. Speech Book in Cerulean Robotics, Freeside.

26. Unarmed Book, The Tops Casino Presidential Suite.

This should cover the skill books within your reach while following the main route of the first act of the game, prior to entering into the general Mojave Conflict/prior to the reputation reset.

also since you added cottonwood you can also add lucky jim mine since it really close by and contains sneak book

Neearly perfect guide ! Thanks for this but you missed one survival book at Mesquite Mountain campsite tho . There is a radscorpion there but you can kill him easy enough with E-DE or shutgon surgeon .
