Star Wars: New Dawn is a total conversion mod set in the aftermath of Revenge of the Sith, spanning the rise of the Empire and the Galactic Civil War. The mod provides a full overhaul to Stellaris with handmade events, expanded mechanics, and lots of brand new content.

Play any of dozens of iconic Star Wars factions. Will you crush dissent as the Empire, save the galaxy as the Alliance, or start as an underdog and carve a story all your own?

Languages:
English with community created translation add-ons (Spanish/German/Chinese/Russian, see below)

Major Features

The Galaxy:
New Dawn is set on a handmade galaxy map at four different sizes each with meaningful customization options.

A story or a sandbox:
Play in the full Star Wars universe following the story as it unfolds, or play sandbox mode in the Star Wars setting.

Ships:
Unique shipsets covering all countries, featuring Galactic Empire, Rebel Alliance, Mandalorians, Confederates, and Chiss designs.

Species:
Over 100 custom species ranging from the iconic Bothans, Ewoks, Hutts, Twi’leks, and Wookiees to the often overlooked Arcona, Ishi Tib, Kubaz, Tiss'shar, and Vagaari.

Events:
Dozens of new events, dig sites, and crisis chains including:
  • The Galactic Civil War. Rebel raids, Imperial operations, Mandalorian clan conflicts, and the rise of the Empire.
  • Hidden formable countries.
  • The Mandalorian Civil War mid-game event chain
  • Imperial and Mandalorian Crusader player-crisis paths.
  • The Yuuzhan Vong invasion.

Featured Mechanics

Rise of the Empire:
The Republic, victor of the Clone Wars, is gone. In its place rises the tyrannical Empire, which demands submission from all. The game begins at this pivotal moment. The Empire needs to consolidate its power, the voices of freedom need to find their strength. Play or watch as the Galactic Civil War unfolds through subjugation, intrigue, and finally, total war.

Institutions provide new ways to influence or interfere with your neighbors, as well as bring prosperity to your empire through various means:
  • Gaining unique building options for certain empires like COMPNOR Arcology for the Galactic Empire or the Mandalorian Recruitment Center for the Mandalorians.
  • Hire Confederate veterans and their fleets as the Corporate Sector Authority or fund uprisings in the underworld as the Hutt Council.
  • And many more!

Tales from the Cantina lead to brand new dig sites and event chains.Track down lost holocrons, forgotten superweapons, and other powerful relics as well as a myriad of new galactic specimens.

Secrets of the Ancients: Piece together artifacts of legendary civilizations like the Celestials and Rakata to uncover their advanced technologies and rebuild awe-inspiring megastructures from a bygone era.

Ship retirement system allowing players to have greater control of what ships will appear in their rosters. Use it to phase out older Clone War-era designs in favor of modernized designs or simply reduce the amount of variants in the ship designer.

Mandalorian clan mechanic inspired by the Klingon Great House Mechanic from Star Trek: New Civilizations. Mandalorian players can foster relationships between important clans of the Galactic Civil War era such as Kryze, Saxon, and Wren.

One map, two settings, four sizes each. Play on either the canon map - which starts the player off with preset borders, multiple systems, and access story events - or play on the sandbox map which is a single planet, vanilla-like start.

New megastructures such as Orbital shipyards, XQ2 trading stations, and Tibanna Mining Platforms.

DLC Support:
  • Apocalypse: the DS-1 Orbital Battle Station (the Death Star) will be available for the Galactic Empire.
  • Megacorp: corporate authorities will be available and certain countries replaced with corporate variants. Additionally, Rebel-aligned factions will be able to build unique holdings. Players without the DLC will still be able to play these empires but without the megacorp features.
  • Nemesis: the Empire will have better use of their crisis mechanics and both the Hutts and Mandalorians will gain access to unique espionage operations. Players without the DLC will still be able to push the galaxy towards the Galactic Civil War.
  • Various other additions with non-species DLCs. As of 0.9, we do not use anything from any of the species DLCs in our mod.
  • No DLC is required for the mod to work.

So just a heads up: we are looking to have the mod updated to 4.0.22 as well. We've been done with the basic 4.0 compat stuff for a while and the last month or so has been focused on getting new and reworked content into the mod.

Hopefully 4.0.22 won't screw stuff up and set us back too much. We've been showing off a little of what we have coming on Discord though.

@TexasDonut:
We've recently reworked some tech stuff. Not sure if we've touched anything you're referencing.

@Grotto Guru:
If you're talking about the strike craft, it was an old design choice carried over from the dead Fallen Republic mod. It won't be in the next update but something we are thinking about taking a look at.

Is it just me or are the ships very small and hard to see with the mod? Is there a reason for that?
TexasDonut Aug 18 @ 12:20am
I have a weird bug going on. I will research something and it doesn't apply the tech/doesn't give me what it says it will. 3 Examples on 2 different playthroughs -> FTL inhibitors on stations/indictor ships after specifically researching them. Then i was Seperatist and Robomoding isn't working (Aka the droids can't specialize). The research shows up under the "done" tab but it's just like it's not like actually unlocking/doing the thing. Please help! it's getting kind of annoying
