Newest Update 1.6

Thanks to the wonderfully helpful Annastasya, multiple fixes have been implemented. Grinders are now oriented correctly, and drills are (hopefully) drilling correctly. I will likely have to make some more tweaks to get everything just right, but this should fix the majority of issues. Mountpoints have been updated, and build stages have been fixed.

In addition, thanks to the help of SEModder4™, the mod now works on cross-platform and allows you to scroll through the ship tools similar to the vanilla tools.

Are you tired of those lame grinders which only cut through ships as slow as an orbital shipping cruiser? Does it annoy you that ship drills only have one lousy access point? Does it annoy you even more that there is no direct terminal access? Well, look no further!



Dun, dun, DUNNNNN. The BA-20 Shipyard Grinder is the newest addition to the Akiad Development industrial portfolio. This oversized grinder is impractical, ugly as hell, and tears apart ships like they are made of nothing more than your opponent's spacesuit.



I present to you the Akiad Development SHIPBREAKER extra-large grinder. This grinder is a 7x7 monster capable of breaking down large ships into their components in record time. It has two direct terminal access points, 4 extra inventory access points other than the large one on the bottom, and is just overall a great companion when looking to loot some civilian cargo ships.



The Akiad Development HEAVY IMPACT DRILL is an extra-large mining drill capable of extracting ore in even the most arduous terrain. The drill features a sleek, yet efficient design that is befitting even the greatest mining vessels.


Updates

- Version 1.5 - Model updates for all previously included tools. Added a large grid Heavy Impact Drill and the BA-20 Shipyard Grinder. Updated some of the build times and required components for balance. Updated some icons.

- Version 1.4 - Akiad SHIPBREAKER is now Akiad Development, as I will be branching development out into different ship tools. For this update I have added the Akiad Heavy Impact Drill, an extra large small ship drill capable of clearing large chunks of voxels. Be warned, currently only the small inventory access points are working, next update will address this. A large grid version will also be included next update.

Version 1.3 - Now includes both large and small grid Ship Breaker versions! Both versions are interchangeable, work when in a cockpit, and have fixed mount points and bounding boxes. I also implemented them into the vanilla research chain, they are now unlocked after the vanilla ship grinder.


Planned Features
(Roughly in order of when they will be added):

- Large & Small grid Akiad Development Welder. The only reason this is at the bottom of the list is frankly I don't have an idea for the model, but as soon as I do it will get done :)

im droppin this message in every mod untill i find it witch ever mod has the stupid far zoom out need to go thats just too far dont add it it the super zoom out make your character a pin dot on the screen makes this mod not enjoyable im removing it

I like this mod and love the Big Drill. My only wishes is that we could build around the drill. I like to hide/protect stuff like that since it stance out to much for my taste. And i constantly destroy them by just do a small turn against something that i didnt see or forget that it was there. And because they are so big (wich is a good thing to me) you also make a bigger ship and that makes it even harder to see anything around you.

imo the drill has an absurdly cheap cost, it should be much more expensive to build than a regular drill and it is currently basically the same. I can just make the edit myself but I can see other people had a similar sentiment.

Hrm... I had something awkward happen with the Shipbreaker on a small grid.

I had it hanging on a piston (1x3 piston from nukeguard's More Pistons) on a rotor-and-hinge assembly controlled by a custom turret controller. Sure the thing made piloting my grinder shipe a nightmare but given it was huge and unwieldy it was mostly a center of mass and multiple-subgrid dampener issue.

But this one time I was trying to grind a static grid (assert installation) and the grinder just... Fell off. It fell off while it was still working and managed to grind off the nose of my ship, even, in the process. There was not a single damaged block, the grinder just fell right off and I don't know why.

As much as I love these, would it be possible to spawn the really big grinder just a bit farther from the engineer? I have a rough time placing the damned thing!

As for the complaints of the drill, I filled my drill ship in about ten seconds recently. It might need a balance pass (made more powerful maybe) but it looks fine as-is to me.

The drill cost needs significant upward adjustment. It currently costs less than the basic one in iron, has a massive internal storage, and its drill radius is about 5m. Maybe add cost of large cargo container and 40-50 large steel tubes.

@Tilki Earthbreaker or Mexpex mining drill?

@Covfefe I built a ship, lost sadly to 1.200 update, that used BA-20 to hunt and eat ships on Earth and in space. Components were recovered, but mass grinding tends to be messy as some parts get left behind when you eat a ship wholesale because they grind slower.
