Mortars.
covering the map entrance so they cant get reinforcments. Basically once you cover Entrance you won! :D
It kinda is, but still.
It makes the game a little harder.
And it's a pain in the but trying to cover 3 chokepoints just to have cram my troops over to the center because the chokepoints are destroyed. The center on this map is really hard to cover because you have to move stuff practically on the bridge to get real good coverage of it.
Machine Guns that have objects infront of them (i.e. Tank Traps) will be able to suppress units but do no damage, as far as I know.
I just figured real Russian / Nazi charges contained 100s of men + Tank Battalions usually held about 20 some tanks, therefore the 400 is perfectly reasonable I think.
Besides it just takes 2 HMGs to gun all the infantry down and a few ATs to blow up both. Besides German Panzerchecks can be easily used to take out tanks.
If you are worried of HMG spam, just use grenades and dynamite.
Basically it just makes bigger more realistic numbers.
