Description
Price: 8500 mk || Tier 2

The Palestar II is the upgraded variant of the scout class vessel produced by Shi Jie Shipyards. A 3rd floor has been added to the frame to house the expanded ballasts, freeing more space in the upper two floors and giving it excellent ascent/descent speed. It's armament of dual Coil Guns, and Discharge Coils have been augmented by the addition of a decoy tube and small drone. Additionaly a 2nd airlock was added to the bottom of the sub, it can be used as a moon pool during salvage operations.


Features:

  • Backup Power Batteries
    Powers the coilguns, ballast, engines, navigation terminal, oxygen generator, and most of the ship's interior lights. Turned on from navigation terminal
  • Moon Pool
    The lower airlock can be turned into a moon pool. Moon pool functionality can be activated and deactivated using the button beside the lower airlock, or the button beside the navigation console. In the event of excessive flooding in the airlock, or reactor shutdown the moon pool will automatically deactivate.
  • Live Map
    There is a live motion/flooding map in the middle of the ship. The map tracks motion throughout the ship (except ballasts) and shows if rooms have water in them as well (blue lights). The edges of the map will light up if something is in close proximity to the ship's exterior in that area.
  • Additional Turret Hard Point
    There is a hard point to support a 3rd turret on the upper rear of the ship
  • Drainage System
    Can be toggled from the navigation terminal (Does not drain engine room, magazine or top floors)
  • Discharge Coils
    Mounted on the top and bottom of the sub to dislodge unwanted passengers, activated from the navigation terminal.
  • Exterior Camera
    Can be viwed from the navigation terminal.
  • Exterior Lights Toggle
    Exterior lights can be turned off/on with a button on the top of the navigation terminal. Additionally the coil gun lights can also be turned off with a button situated between their periscopes.
  • Machine Shop
    Located next to the cargo room, the ship has a small machine shop to allow deconstruction and fabrication of items.
  • Decoy Station
    Located in the Armory, the ship is loaded with 2 decoys that can be dropped to lure creatures away from the sub.
  • Powered Docking
    The sub receives power from the primary docking port. When docked to stations the reactor can be shutdown to conserve fuel. Systems that are powered from the docking port are: Batteries, oxygen generator, fabricator/deconstructor, rear access shaft pumps, and some of the lights.
  • Additional status monitor in the engine room

There is a small drone that comes with the sub

FI-8 Gamma Drone
The FI-8 Gamma drone is good for doing recon of small spaces before sending a dive team. Can also be used to bring supplies to dive teams that have gone far from the sub through a tight space. It's small frame and flimsy armor make it ill suited for combat, but the coil gun mounted on the top can be used to great effect while attached to the parent sub. The Drone's navigation terminal has a button that will let you switch the periscope between the turret on the top, and the search light on the bottom right of the drone.


This is the upgraded version of my entry level sub the Palestar. I designed this to be a better long term option for single player campaigns. I priced the sub so that it would be easy to jump into early if desired. It is also good for long term campaigns with a small group of people (2-3).

Hi there, thank you for letting me know about the periscope issue! I took a look in the editor and I guess something got messed up with the waypoints in the last update. I have fixed them now, so bots should be able to access the periscopes from anywhere on the sub again!

This is my favorite sub line but it seems AI crew can't find the periscopes on their own after I command them with the command wheel.
I have to control them and park them right underneath one.

Sorry for the delayed response. I took a look at the sub in editor and couldn't find any issues with the way points. Can you tell me where the pathing issue you encountered happened?

Oxygen tanks is not a bug, they aren't hooked up to power by default. I left that as an option for players using the ship. Now that more of the vanilla subs have it by default I might hook some up though.
Regarding depth rating, the sub is Tier 2 and it's hull is the same as vanilla subs. Whatever a normal Tier 2 sub can get down to (I don't know what that is off the top of my head). If you are seeing warning icons over passages while looking at the map screen, I would suggest getting some hull upgrades. The sub will be able to make it through the Ridge easily with some hull upgrades.

Looks like the oxygen tanks on the shelfs and the diving suits don't get refilled.
It doesn't work even after upgrading oxygen production to the max.
I find it very annoying, is it a bug?

I checked in the editor and didn't find a difference with vanilla subs.

By the way, to which depth is this sub rated?
I just entered the second biome Europan Ridge :
-Hull is not upgraded.
-screen lightly shakes
-creaking noises
-crew is chatting about depth (I'm playing solo).

Thanks! With the new tier system I would like to do something like that as well, unfortunately I don't have as much free time as I did when I first made these so I don't know when I'll be able to get around to it.:barotrauma:

Sub is very cool. I wish there was an another sub scaled in size, QoL and power between this and Faustus.
