GeodataLoaderPL [test]

Description
GeodataLoaderPL

Attention! Test build!

Mod allows to import data from Polish Topografical Database "Baza Danych Obiektów Topograficznych 10k" (later BDOT), when it's saved in XML(GML) format, as well as Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from ARC/INFO ASCII GRID files.

Modification should be used only when creating new map, but it's possible to use it in game (not in editor) with some "empty" background map (as shown on screens).
Use some unlimited money mod if You want to use the mod in game (not in editor)!

BDOT

Precise BDOT description from gov page.[isap.sejm.gov.pl]
(for BDOT classes check table on p.197-204)

By default, the mod uses the list of objects I have prepared for the basic version of the game.

After running the modification for the first time in C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\ Cities_Skylines, a configuration file (GMLParserPL.json) should appear, allowing you to customize object dictionaries as you like. When editing, I recommend using an editor that supports additional formatting of .json files (with this amount of data it's hard to find).

Known issues:
  • Complicated crossroads need manual adjusting
  • (Only in game) Buildings not placed in road zones will disappear after simulation start (other "working" modification needed) Ploppable RICO Revisited seems to be the answer
  • (Only in game) When loading many resource-type objects game can't keep up with updating (terrain is striped)

Bridges and footbridges not implemented.

You can find currently used BDOT classes on mod wiki page (at the end of the description).

DEM

DEM description on GUGIK(Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography) page.[www.gugik.gov.pl]

Mod joins the ASCII pictures (if they are in the game area) according to their name / map emblem, than selected pictures are resampled with biqubic interpolation and loaded to game.
In case of "no data" the average value from the entire selected block of pictures is used.

Ok, so we are talking here about LandXML and GML interoperability (and different shema)?
In short not really as it wolud require some programming skills :|
It's a completly different shema than BDOT.
Buuut same as in answer for question before from Blue_Butter.jpg - main code part can be reused with different parser (If there will be someone to rewrite it)
As you can see the whyoh below was talking about trying to reimplement it for UK GML data (I don't know if he manged to succeed tho)

Could this be setup to use a local LandXML file rather than a database?

Ciezka sprawa. Jak to do cholery zainstalowac i pobrac i skopiowac....

I've worked with the UK GML data a fair bit in the past, and a lot of it is free now - https://osdatahub.os.uk/downloads/open

If I can find some time I'll take a look at what it would take to add a parser/translator for that.

Hi, Thanks!
Unfortunately, no (I don’t suppose that any other country uses the same DB structure) :/
But it should be rather easy to reimplement whole code for different geoDB and the main code part, responsible for creating buildings etc. “GeodataLoaderPL”, will still work if connected to other parsing source (ofc. then data format must be correct). :)

nice one mate, would it work with geodata from other countries' databases, too?

Hej,
zaktualizowałem trochę opis, dodałem link do wiki i zarazem instrukcji.
