This is my first ever map, if there are issues (And there will be!) with the quests, NPCs, floating objects, ect, PLEASE contact me so that I may fix it!

I may have bundled the NPCs and notes wrong, so if New Durham or Fort Leon are empty, please contact me so I may troubleshoot!

Map Lore:

During the Cold War, the United States builds multiple rocket testing and military installations in Franklin, a low population area. The influx of workers to build the installations significantly grows the population. When the projects are completed, the workers open farms and the Big J corporation builds an oil rig on the coast, and digs a mine.

A man decides to grow berries in the Western farm area, his neighbors like the idea and follow his example. The owner of the raceway decides he’ll sell it when Big J makes their offer bigger.

The zombie infection starts in Washington, it infects many people. The rest of the country takes notice and locks down their airports. Franklin (fictional state in which the equally fictional Durham is set) begins marshal law and riot police are sent to protect towns. All exits and entrances are closed and destroyed, and harbors are closed.

A week after the infection, a sick man on a plane suddenly turns and attacks the pilot, the plane crashes near to Morris Town. The government notices this and launches a nuclear weapon from Silo 55 to Morris Town. Morris Town is destroyed and people believe the infection to be gone. Military brutes are sent in to kill any and all survivors, which there are several. One survivor is sick and the sick man turns. The sick zombie bites a brute and the infection spreads to surrounding communities.

Military personnel decide to take the nuclear option and destroy Durham Bridge. They are attacked and infected before destroying the railroad bridge, however. Their other squad is sent to the dam to blow it up. They are attacked by a roaming zombie, and the dam is not destroyed.

Hospitals are overrun and the military personnel retreat to Silo 55, Isaac International Defense Complex, and the Air Force base nearby. Soldiers from Point Golf Army Base are confronted by a Mayridge ranger gang, and are infected by a sick ranger. The rangers destroy a tower, and are exploded by a tank.
The Pine Island Penitentiary has a military plane crash on it, two escaped prisoners manage to salvage military gear and attempt to kill the officers, a zombie stuck in a box breaks out and manages to infect the entire island before anyone is able to leave.

A week after Morris town’s destruction, survivors detonate the bridge connecting mainland Durham to Greenfield, an unfinished planned community. They inhabit the island and keep safe and uninfected. More civilians come and join the safe place.

Despite the craziness going on on the mainland, the Big J Oil Rig workers continue pumping and refining oil into gasoline.

The military decides to fly a space shuttle to the ISS, which houses the most important world leaders. The space shuttle fails, dropping its rockets until it smashes into the ground. The military sends a retrieval team, but they are infected by Deerfield zombies. The military has no more fuel due to the space shuttle, and so they send a crew to take over the Big J Oil Rig. They kill all the workers, and take the Rig over, shipping fuel to the key military locations. During this, a stranded Scorpion-7 train finally gets running again and is running to the Scorpion-7 lab to resupply the scientists stationed there. A mega zombie manages to derail the train, essentially cutting off the surviving scorpion-7 scientists.

The military sends a squad over to the local Scorpion-7 laboratory, and kidnaps several scientists, leaving some behind. The military forces them to build a nuclear weapon. Over the course of a week, the scientists do so and finish the nuclear weapon. The scientists are then assigned to attempt to cure the zombie infection, they get pretty close until they realize they don’t have a certain ingredient. An ingredient that is found at their HQ in Nevada. Using instructions from the German scorpion-7 team, they build a teleporter and teleport to the HQ. the teleporter breaks, and the coils are teleported to random parts of Durham. The military attempts to launch the nuke towards Durham, but the nuke sputters out and leaks so much radiation, everyone inside gets radiation poisoning. The entire Northwestern part of Durham is irradiated. A captured zombie breaks free and kills anyone still alive in the surrounding communities.

A week later a stranded shipping vessel crashed into the Big J Oil Rig, and a mega zombie climbs up the Rig and infects the last bit of military personnel in Durham.

A month later the Coalition arrives in Durham, landing on Greenfield Island, now renamed New Durham. The mayor talks to the Coalition, and gets New Durham under Coalition protection. The Liberator comes in and docks until going to Germany.

With the newfound success thanks to the Coalition, the town builds a fort colony, named Fort Dixie, after Coalition Commander Dixie. The fort flourishes.

The Syndicate from Germany arrives in Durham and befriends survivors on Mount Brawn. Eventually the Syndicate notices the Coalition and wages war on them again, placing a horde beacon and disabling their Safezone Radiator at Fort Dixie. Most people in Fort Dixie are zombified, and the Syndicate throws an elaborate party. The Coalition then spends a month looking for the meanest mega zombie they can find, eventually trapping it in a container and using a Skycrane helicopter, they fly it over to Mount Brawn, absolutely obliterating the Syndicate, save for one member.

The one Syndicate survivor pretends to be a wandering civilian, and is accepted to New Durham. The citizens have a large party to celebrate the Syndicate’s final defeat.

With the success of the Syndicates defeat, the residents and Coalition of New Durham feel confident enough to build another fort—Fort Leon, also named after Commander Leon Dixie. The fort flourishes.


Commander Leon Dixie and a squad are sent to an unnamed European country and do not return.


A week later a ranger submarine floats into Durham Bay, and attempts to scout out Durham. They fail and dock near the coast, essentially stranded until someone helps them.

One day following, the player’s plane crash lands in Durham, or they wash up on the shore.
