You can find their mod here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1231532150

Description

If using Babies and Children alongside Children, School and Learning, you do not need this mod anymore, as BnC has implemented the functionality of this mod. However, this mod has compatibility with more races than BnC, so if your favorite races aren't added to BnC, you can use this mod instead.

Makes being young very detrimental for your abilities, built purely for allowing age 0 children in the Children, School and Learning mod that aren't immediately able to do everything. Also adds a crib for young children (age 3 and under). Artwork for the crib provided by the talented Onyxae.

Now includes a Settings Menu to adjust how rapidly pawns "age" to match up with faster aging mods.

Important note: Due to their small size, drugs and alcohol affect young children, particularly babies and toddlers, very heavily. A single beer can potentially lead to liver damage. I recommend setting your default drug policy to No Drugs, and setting other, older colonists to whatever setting you prefer to avoid potential issues.

Stages:
Newborn
0 - 2 Quadrums:
Completely incapable. Will be bedridden and need feeding.

Baby
2 Quadrums - 1 Year:
Very slow, very sleepy, will probably spend most waking hours finding something to eat then go straight to bed.

Toddler
1 Year - 2.5 Years:
Slow and sleepy, more capable than babies and has limited speech capabilities.

Young Child
2.5 Years - 7 Years:
Slower at moving and working than adults but mostly developed speech.

Child
7 Years - 12 Years:
Slightly slower at moving and manipulating than adults.

I recommend the Dress Patients mod to allow you to put clothes on newborns, and get rid of the Unhappy Nudity warning:

Compatibility:

If using Babies and Children alongside Children, School and Learning, you do not need this mod anymore, as BnC has implemented the functionality of this mod. However, this mod has compatibility with more races than BnC, so if your favorite races aren't added to BnC, you can use this mod instead. DO NOT USE BOTH MODS AT THE SAME TIME.

Load after Children, School and Learning for best results. In order for this mod to work correctly, birth age should be set to zero in the settings of Children, School and Learning. Should be compatible with most things without issue, let me know if you find any conflicts.
Added compatibility for a number of alien races, if you find any that still aren't working (after verifying humans are working), send me a link and I will add them to the mod.

Note:
XML editing is no longer needed. A settings menu has been included to adjust for various aging rates.

Currently known to be compatible with the following races:

...And more!

Known Issues:

Incompatible with some Alien Race mods, as they use "OrganicStandard" as their only HediffGiver. I cannot add "Youth" to OrganicStandard without it affecting a lot of things it should not. If your preferred alien race is not currently compatible, ask me and I can add a patch for them to this mod which will make them compatible.

Any mods that add rapid aging drugs, potions, artifacts, etc will have an issue if used on young children. The child will age like normal, but the age related effects from this mod will be unchanged. So long as you avoid using them on children, there won't be an issue. However, due to the current implementation of this mod, this is an issue that cannot be fixed. Once the "Youth" effect wears off, it will be safe to use those items freely. Apologies for any inconvenience.

This will not be updated to 1.3, as I stopped supporting this when the new version was released. However, the revamp will be updated, and there are links to it in the description and comments.

hi, any chance of 1.3?
hoia Jul 21, 2021 @ 10:17am
Hi, are you planning to update this mod to 1.3, now that the DLC is out? :)
troopersmith1  [author] Nov 12, 2020 @ 3:19pm
@Lilly

The updated version of the mod no longer uses the Newborn stage, so you don't need to worry about it.
Lilly Nov 12, 2020 @ 10:01am
Ok, thank you! And does anyone know how to get a newborn in the crib?
troopersmith1  [author] Nov 10, 2020 @ 4:58pm
@Lilly

You can remove it midgame, but you need to make sure you don't have any children with the "Youth" hediff. If need be, you can remove it using Dev mode.

Just an update for you guys, the rework is feature complete. At this point I'm working on the alien race patching which is the lions share of the work needed (8500 lines of patchoperations and counting!). Won't be releasing it this weekend (obviously), but it will definitely be good to go for next weekend.

Just for transparency, the initial release will not include the newborn stage, but I will be posting a "poll" on the new mod page to get more feedback about it. I have heard the couple of you who responded so far, but 2 people out of 4000 isn't exactly representative. I'm hoping to get a bigger sample to confirm it is something a good chunk of you would want, because it will be a *lot* of work to add (probably about 1/4 of the work to set up the entire rest of the mod).
