Ah I see, thanks for getting back to me!

This will not be updated to 1.3, as I stopped supporting this when the new version was released. However, the revamp will be updated, and there are links to it in the description and comments.
MiguelCairo Jul 21, 2021 @ 10:57am
hi, any chance of 1.3?
hoia Jul 21, 2021 @ 10:17am
Hi, are you planning to update this mod to 1.3, now that the DLC is out? :)
troopersmith1  [author] Nov 12, 2020 @ 3:19pm
@Lilly

The updated version of the mod no longer uses the Newborn stage, so you don't need to worry about it.
Lilly Nov 12, 2020 @ 10:01am
Ok, thank you! And does anyone know how to get a newborn in the crib?
troopersmith1  [author] Nov 10, 2020 @ 4:58pm
@Lilly

You can remove it midgame, but you need to make sure you don't have any children with the "Youth" hediff. If need be, you can remove it using Dev mode.
Lilly Nov 10, 2020 @ 7:57am
Can you remove this mod mid game, because I want to switch the the updated version

Just an update for you guys, the rework is feature complete. At this point I'm working on the alien race patching which is the lions share of the work needed (8500 lines of patchoperations and counting!). Won't be releasing it this weekend (obviously), but it will definitely be good to go for next weekend.

Just for transparency, the initial release will not include the newborn stage, but I will be posting a "poll" on the new mod page to get more feedback about it. I have heard the couple of you who responded so far, but 2 people out of 4000 isn't exactly representative. I'm hoping to get a bigger sample to confirm it is something a good chunk of you would want, because it will be a *lot* of work to add (probably about 1/4 of the work to set up the entire rest of the mod).
odaswifteye Oct 18, 2020 @ 8:35pm
Oh! Sounds good!
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 18, 2020 @ 8:32pm
@odaswifteye

It will not be dependent on CSL, but it will be compatible with it. It *should* also work alongside other mods that add children, like CnP. As a matter of fact, you won't even need a mod that adds children to use the new version, although obviously you would miss out on some features.
odaswifteye Oct 18, 2020 @ 8:27pm
Will the reworked version of age matters still be dependent on Children and learning?
tanyfilina Oct 16, 2020 @ 9:10pm
I think, more stages are better, and anyone who don't want them can start from specific age with Children, School and Learning, right? Only I have to say that (after I've tried the new Babies and Children which have this problem) if you keep the "newborn" stage, add please the compatibility with modded needs, like thirst from Dub's Bad Hygiene.

And, please, make your scaling compatible with Facial Stuff! That is a musthave mod for many players.
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 16, 2020 @ 9:04pm
@odaswifteye

That's a large part of why I am considering scrapping it. I like the "immersion" of having a newborn be completely dependent on others for survival, but it doesn't play well with Rimworld mechanics, and essentially makes the mod dependent on something like "Dress Patients" to put clothes on them. I'm not sure I want to have outside "dependencies" like that, as the new version doesn't require any other mods to function.
odaswifteye Oct 16, 2020 @ 8:59pm
This is The Sims fan in me talking but I think having all the stages is best. The only downside of Newborns is that you can't put clothes on them to mitigate the weather so certain runs newborns are kind of doomed (especially rakkle babies, so much hyperthermia).
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 16, 2020 @ 8:39pm
@all

So, a poll of sorts for you guys. In the revamped version, would you like me to leave in the "newborn" stage, or cut it and have pawns start off in the "baby" stage?

I've already combined the two child stages together, but have added a stage for teenagers (oh the struggles) and one for the elderly as well. Keep in mind the new version will function slightly differently, but the overall effect should be roughly the same.
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 16, 2020 @ 7:53pm
@chensertno

My age multiplier only affects the hediff from this mod. It does not change the aging rate of pawns. It is for people who use mods like Faster Aging, so it matches up.
chensertno Oct 16, 2020 @ 7:36pm
hello, I have a question
does your mod's age multiplier affect all npc's or only children under 16 years old?
odaswifteye Oct 13, 2020 @ 8:55pm
Thank you.
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 13, 2020 @ 8:48pm
@odaswifteye

Likely within a week, definitely within two weeks. Already have a lot of work done.
odaswifteye Oct 13, 2020 @ 7:24pm
Any ETA on when that will be done?
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 13, 2020 @ 2:49pm
@all

I am currently working on a totally revamped version of this mod that will be rebuilt from the ground up for better implementation and better compatibility. This mod will no longer be developed past it's current state, but will remain up on the workshop for those who wish to continue using it and the rework, when complete, will be released as a separate mod.
odaswifteye Oct 10, 2020 @ 5:24pm
Understood.
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 10, 2020 @ 4:46pm
@odaswifteye

A settings menu has been included to adjust for various aging rates, which affects how quickly they progress through the stages in the mod. However, if you want the pawn to actually *age* faster, you will need another mod like Faster Aging to do so, and can adjust the two mods in settings so they are both the same age rate. (e.g. 4x faster aging, and "Youth" progresses 4x faster as well)
odaswifteye Oct 10, 2020 @ 4:30pm
Is there an age speeder just in case I don't want to wait actual in game years for the child to be usable?
liosalpha Oct 4, 2020 @ 9:24pm
Thank you!
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 4, 2020 @ 6:38pm

Updated. Fixed dragons from Dragon's Descent, they should no longer get the Youth effect from this mod. Added compatibility for Rimeffect Races
troopersmith1  [author] Oct 4, 2020 @ 6:43am
@liosaplha

I have, and I figured out what the issue is, but there isn't an easy fix. (Well there is, but it removes compatibility with other races as well.) I'm working on a small rewrite of that part of the mod to address the issue and should have something by the end of the day.
liosalpha Oct 4, 2020 @ 2:05am
@troopersmith1,
have you gotten around to check this out?
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 24, 2020 @ 12:51pm
@liosalpha

Sounds like it's using a hediffgiver normally reserved for humanlikes. I can look into it this weekend.
liosalpha Sep 24, 2020 @ 11:56am
Hi, love your mod but i found out that my dragon welps (Dragons descent, animal kind not a pawn with a draconic race) has gotten the youth hediff upon hedging. (i could fix it with a cheat tool)
other egg animals seem fine, like Meadow Aves
im pritty new to this and that dargon mod so let me know if you need mor info.
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 12, 2020 @ 9:13pm
@all

Updated. Issue with the hediff not being applied correctly should be corrected now.
meaningwhat Sep 12, 2020 @ 2:47pm
Thanks
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 12, 2020 @ 2:45pm
@meaningwhat

You will need a mod like Faster Aging ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1850802618 ) to get what you are looking for.

Oh..opps I got the wrong mod then...
What mod that actually increase aging speed? Great work with the mod thou
Pillowkitty Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:52pm
Glad it wasn't user error on my end! Thanks for hearing me out. Core updates are a mix of exciting and exhausting.
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:51pm
@Pillowkitty

Yeah, just did some testing of my own. Seems that the recent update may have broken something. I'll look into and update as soon as I can.
Pillowkitty Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:48pm
Made double sure no other mods could be toying with it. Issue still persists.

Both Star Trek and Forgotten Realms. My Bolian gave birth and I noticed it up and walking around. I know the mod worked in the past for me. Checked in dev mode and elves were doing the same.
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:42pm
@Pillowkitty

Which O21 mod? There are several
Pillowkitty Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:39pm
I tried changing load order, but it seems the patch isn't being applied to the O21 races for me, hediffs aren't being applied. Human babies come out fine.
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:35pm
@meaningwhat

If I'm understanding you correctly, the setting to change "aging rate" in this mod is for this mod to match up with other mods that actually increase the rate that pawns age, such as Faster Aging. This mod doesn't actually make any changes to aging rate, as there are other mods that handle that already, the setting just makes the "Youth" effect change at different rates.

If you have already changed it to match your aging mod, and it's not working, that's different and I'll try to troubleshoot with you.
meaningwhat Sep 12, 2020 @ 1:27pm
It seems that the age in the health tab does not reflect the actual Accelerated age of the children pawn. Would this cause the minimum learning age in CSL to not work properly?
troopersmith1  [author] Sep 11, 2020 @ 3:56am
@userequalto_null

Not currently no. Wouldn't be terribly difficult to implement, if there was demand for it.
userequalto_null Sep 10, 2020 @ 9:42pm
question/suggestion: can this mod differentiate by a pawn's race? I.E. can you set your Nyaron to mature at 6 but leave your Drow at 12?

troopersmith1  [author] Aug 31, 2020 @ 2:09am
@Blazingstorm32

Well, that's really a matter of personal preference. Setting it to 5 makes an average human lifespan roughly 16 years, birth to death. Higher numbers decrease that, while lower numbers will increase lifespan. Don't forget, this mod doesn't actually affect aging, you need a mod like Faster Aging, or World Faster Aging to do that
gabooob Aug 30, 2020 @ 10:51pm
Hello there, was just wondering whats the optimal setting for the multiplier to make colonists grow fast but not too fast, if you know what i mean? Like a perfect balance.
liosalpha Aug 30, 2020 @ 9:14pm
Thank you for maintaining the mod.

@peenerz, its a clash with hair/beard mods. the other modder is looking in to it, i think.
personaly i think they look chibi-like
troopersmith1  [author] Aug 30, 2020 @ 7:22pm
@all

Added a settings menu to affect the speed of growth, to work with faster aging mods. No more xml editing for compatibility!
