RPM-TWAS Historical Ship Variants

Description
RPM-TWAS Historical Ship Variants

Current Version – Version 1.1
Last updated: 11 January, 2022
Compatible with HOI4 version 1.11.*
NOTE: This mod should be compatible with all patches/expansions, etc., since the Man the Guns expansion. If you find a bug, however, please let me know. Thanks, and enjoy!

SUMMARY
The RPM-TWAS Historical Ship Variants mod fills a gap from the Man the Guns expansion where there are no longer any historical ship variants outside of those scripted in the initial OOBs.

The mod adds historical ship variants for all relevant nations through decisions that are activated once the player researches the appropriate techs. For the low, low price of 10 Naval XP (and the appropriate researched techs), you can open up a range of historical ship variants across a variety of different ship types for all nations who at least designed a ship after 1935.

CONTENTS
The mod includes historical ship variants for all relevant nations, including majors and minors. It currently has over 200 ship variants, including nearly 130 for the major nations alone.

The mod includes a wide range of ship types, including minelayers, escort destroyers, light carriers, and cruiser submarines. It includes historical classes that were completed as well as those that only made it to the design phase.

Much of the mod draws from the RPM for HOI4 mod and The War At Sea (TWAS) mod. Currently, only the RPM for HOI4 mod is compatible with the latest HOI4 patch and expansion, and an expanded version of this mod will be incorporated into the RPM mod soon, so if you like this mod, check out that one as well!!!

SOME NOTES
This mod has ship variants that are meant to be as historically accurate as possible given the ship techs, hulls, and modules from the base game. As such, there are a few important caveats:
  • Historical variants are not necessarily optimal variants. In fact, many were made out of necessity for cheaper designs, shortage of resources, etc.
  • In the end, some historical variants did not really improve upon their predecessors, so be sure to check the stats and IC costs before plopping a new variant into the build queue.
  • Given the ship module and tech setup in the base game, it is not possible to include all historical ship classes since some would just be duplicates of the variants included here, at least stats-wise.
  • This mod is mostly intended for the 1936 scenario start, though it stays true to the variants of the base game’s 1939 starting ship variants, though these are now updated to be a bit more historically accurate (and usually more advanced than in vanilla).

COMPATIBILITY
The mod should be compatible with any other mod that does not change the naval techs or ship hulls or modules from the base game. The new ship variants will likely not be compatible with any mod that makes extensive changes to the naval system.

The mod is mostly a standalone mod, so it should also be compatible across DLCs, expansions, patches, etc., too.

CREDITS
Many thanks to Axe99, creator of The War At Sea (TWAS) mod, for all of his work and help on this mod, and to Indyclone77 for his usual excellent artwork.

I am a sucker for the naval and air designers, and an even bigger sucker for the premade templates that this mod provides.
I would LOVE to see an update for this mod that covers BBA.

May need an update due to 1.12.1 changing the naval tech tree

Works in German Language very good too. Thanks for the Work you make with the normal untuched R & D-Tree we have from the latest Base-Versions and all DLCs.

That´s cool and convients to my Playstile. Hope it dosen´t bite with the German Language. Otherwise what matters, if it´s working like it should.

It should be compatible with both the older and newer expansions (I've updated the mod to show as much). If anyone finds any bugs, though, please post them here. Thanks!
