The former Brutus Beefcake signed with WCW in 1994 and debuted as Brother Bruti. However, Bruti turned on his friend Hulk Hogan, revealing himself as the masked man who had attacked Hogan at Clash of Champions. Bruti became The Butcher, part of the Three Faces of Fear.

When that group broke up, The Butcher came down with amnesia and began wrestling as The Man with No Name. Shortly after, he joined the Dungeon of Doom as The Zodiac. The anti-Hulkamania stable feuded with Hogan throughout 1995, but The Zodiac was revealed to be a mole planted by Hogan, leading to a face turn and a new gimmick, The Booty Man.
