NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VANILLA XCOM 2 (No I will not port to Vanilla, sorry)
--------

DESCRIPTION

---------------------------------

This was a commission by Dizzy_Dares, who wanted me to port in their favorite bullpup rifle, the Magpul PDR.

This mod adds the PDR to all 3 tiers, with both bullpup and pistol variants. The bullpup variant uses primary pistol animations. They should be mechanical duplicates of their respective vanilla weapons, it's a purely cosmetic change.

Hope you enjoy! Remember ratings are always super helpful, and comments help me know I'm making content y'all enjoy!

FAQ:

Q) How do I change the stats on the weapons?

Check the config folder. COSMETICBULLPUP.ini and COSMETICPISTOL.ini.

Q) Why aren't the weapons showing up?

You've usually gotta start a new game or upgrade to a new tier for the weapons to populate in your armory.

Q) Can you port to Vanilla?

No, the process for doing so is really annoying and tedious and I do not intend to return to playing vanilla X2 or LW2 (not to mention the Vanilla SDK is super big)

Q) Can you do [Insert Request Here]?

Depends, but probably not, unless it's a small task of simply messing with some text files (even then, a maybe at best). I make my mods for my own personal enjoyment, so unless your idea is something that I'd actually enjoy that I just hadn't thought of, I'll prob not be too interested in doing it. $5 patrons get to suggest ideas for my regular polls tho, and I'm sometimes willing to consider paid commissions.

Feel free to ask any additional questions in the comments.

@Dizzy_Dares
There are SMG mods that utilize PDR-style short barrel foregrip animations. Basically any mod with SMG weapon types.

OK thanks.
Do you have an idea about why the PDR pistol and the assault rifle appear together in the hand of the soldiers during missions ? It just a visual surprise however. The weapons shoot as they should.
Dizzy_Dares Sep 11, 2019 @ 10:37am
@HET due to the way animations work. and the compact build of the PDR. it had to be pistol animations. AR animations looked too wonky.

The Bullpup version is PDR-C, Pistol version is PDR-P. There's some visual glitches if you use the Bullpup version and any pistol together because of the primary pistol animations not expecting a secondary pistol. I might need to look at the animation archetype for the pistol version.

@ Creator
In addition to previous message, a small correction fro the issue b/ In fact it seems that sometimes both the primary weapon and the PDR appear at the same time in the hand of the soldier, when he fires.

A few questions
a/ how does one identify the pistol and the bulpup ? they both seem to appear as PDR-P ?
b/ they appear in the armoury and it is possible to equip the soldiers with them. However, during the missions, it seems the animations are off. When the soldiers use the pistol, they shoot with their primary weapons (assault guns for example) held in one hand, and the PDR therefore does not appear. The sound however seems to be correct.
c/ Using the loadout screen, I tried also to equip one soldier with both bulpup and pistol, both PDR-P. The "pistol" appear in the pistol holder (on the thigh then) but the "bulpup" does not appear (empty hands). I have not tried this setup during a mission and I don't know what would happen.

The bullpup variant uses primary pistol animations.

@HET: there's a Bullpup version as well. Might want to make sure you're using the correct one.

I find my favorite firearm is now in XCOM2, but it uses pistol animations, which looks really weird. I'm so sad right now.
