Scream Fortress 2011: Monoculus

I will show you how to unlock all of the Scream Fortress achievements available by playing the Eyeaduct event. I will also give you details about the Halloween boss, Monoculus.

Introduction

This series of guides will show you how to unlock all of the Scream Fortress achievements available by playing the Eyeaduct event. It will also give you details about the Halloween boss, Monoculus.

This is a seasonal guide. Certain parts of this guide can't be completed unless the Scream Fortress event is going on. If you'd like to learn about the other Halloween events, read the guides below.

koth_eyeaduct_event

Eyeaduct is a King of the Hill map. It is a spooky overhaul of koth_viaduct with Halloween themed visuals and sounds. It also has a second layer to it, the Underworld. Players can only reach the Underworld by attempting to kill the Eyeaduct boss, Monoculus.





Whenever the control point changes hands ghosts will begin to roam around. If a player stands too close to one of them they will get scared causing move slowly and be unable to attack.



Pumpkin bombs are scattered throughout the map. When they are hit they will explode damaging anybody standing around them.




Eyeaduct also uses a different style of health pack. They are themed as a cauldron, a pie box and a chocolate bar.

Boss Battle

Monoculus will appear every three minutes after its last appearance on the control point as long as there are ten or more players in the server. The game will announce its arrival in the form of a popup on the left side of the screen. From the moment it spawns players will have two minutes to defeat it before it will disappear to haunt another realm.



Whenever Monoculus is present its health bar will be displayed in the center of everyone's view.



Monoculus will float around the map firing eyeball projectiles at members of both the Blu and Red team. The eyeballs do massive amounts of damage and will kill most classes in one hit. If a player gets a critical hit on Monoculus it will become angered firing projectiles at a more rapid pace with higher accuracy.



Monoculus will also teleport from one point of the map to another, leaving behind a portal. Jumping into the portal will teleport you to the underworld where you will take a steady damage over time. The objective of the underworld is to reach the exit portal on the other side, if you make it to the exit portal you'll emerge in the overworld with a temporary ubercharge, crit and speed boost. If somebody who has recently emerged from the underworld attacks Monoculus it will temporarily fall to the ground stunned.



Once Monoculus has been defeated it will explode covering anybody standing near it in Jarate. It will also create a teleport to loot island where you can claim your reward for defeating it.

If Monoculus was successfully defeated it will return next time with a higher level. For every level Monoculus gets its firing rate and health will be increased. The level will reset if you are unsuccessful defeating it.

Achievements

Scattered throughout the map are pumpkins with explosives strapped to them. To earn the achievement hit one of these pumpkins when a player is standing close to one. This will cause the pumpkin to detonate, damaging the player standing near it.







Each time a player is killed they have roughly a 12% chance of dropping a Halloween pumpkin. Upon collecting the pumpkin you will get credit towards the achievement and a short crit buff. It doesn't matter who kills the player as long as you pick up the pumpkin. You'll also receive a hat for completing the achievement.






Killing an enemy spy who is disguised as your current class will unlock this achievement. Spy-check anybody you see who is the same class as you to earn it.







The Ghasty Gibus Grab can be earned year round. Dominating any player wearing a Ghastly Gibus will earn you the achievement and your own Ghastly Gibus hat.







At random intervals a Halloween present will appear in one one of several locations throughout the map if there are ten or more players on the server. You'll recieve a personal alert letting you know the present has appreared. If you collect the present in time you'll recieve a Halloween themed item. If the present is collected in the Underworld the item will be of the Haunted quality.






Whenever the control point changes hands a number of ghosts will begin to roam the map. If a player walks near one it will cause them to walk around vulnerable with ghosts floating around their heads. To earn this achievement simply kill somebody who is under this effect.







Being one of the last three people to deal damage to Monoculus will unlock this achievement. Upon completing this achievement you will receive the Monoculus! hat.







Once Monoculus dies an open book will appear at the same spot it was killed. Jumping into the book will teleport the you to an island in the underworld. Climb the steps and retrieve the Bombinomicon from the cage to earn this achievement and the badge.

Maybe you can help me out with this. I can't get Attack O' Lantern to unlock. I'm on a server put in Halloween mode, and I've been able to get all the other acheivements, but Attack O' Lantern doesn't seem to be counting my pumpkin bomb kills. It's driving me nuts!

Oh, and I'm on Windows 8.1, not Mac; so it's nothing to do with that old bug.

I love the guide, but cannot unsee that you misspelled Monoculus

Demoman blew his own eye out by mistake. He is considered a failure in his family because all of his family blew BOTH their eyes out(he still has one).
