Flight Instructions

Earth Take-off (H2)
  1. Check your weight and natural gravity to make sure upwards TWR will be greater than 1
  2. Enable inertia dampeners
  3. Take-off vertically
  4. Once you're clear of the ground pitch up 90 degrees and accelerate until 100m/s
  5. Disable inertia dampeners
  6. Increase Thrust Override just enough to mantain 100m/s without wasting fuel
  7. Adjust the Thrust Override when gravity starts decreasing
  8. When you're out of the planet's/moon's gravity field disable Thrust Override
  9. Turn On Ion Thrusters
Spent Delta-V: 1908,3m/s
Spent Tank Percentage: 32,1%

Earth Take-off (H2 + Ion)
  8. Turn on Ion Thrusters at about 9Km and disable H2 Thrusters and press 'W' to mantain 100m/s with just the ions
  9. When you're out of the planet's/moon's gravity field stop accelerating
Spent H2 Delta-V: 993m/s
Spent Tank Percentage: 16,7%
Spent Electricity: 140kWh

Earth Take-off (with speed mods)
  1. Check your weight and natural gravity to make sure upwards TWR will be greater than 1
  2. Enable inertia dampeners
  3. Take-off vertically
  4. Once you're clear of the ground pitch up 45 degrees and accelerate until you see the velocity vector in the cockpit
  5. Disable inertia dampeners
  6. Adjust Thrust Override and tap Spacebar once in a while to mantain 200m/s Vertical Velocity
  7. Progressively lower your pitch
  8. Disable Thrust Override when you reach 550m/s at 17Km for Earth (your forward momentum will eject you out of the atmosphere
  9. You can figure out the perfect ascent profile for every planet by yourself and for the atmospheric drag and reentry heat mods (just be careful this ship accelerates really fast, keep an eye out for your speed)
  10. Turn On Ion Thrusters when you're in space
Spent Delta-V: 1250m/s
Spent Tank Percentage: 21%

Earth Landing
  1. Check your weight and natural gravity to make sure upwards TWR will be greater than 1 on the surface
  2. Enter the planet's/moon's gravity field
  3. Disable inertia dampeners
  4. Leave some safety altitude and speed and then toggle inertia dampeners periodically to land

  5. If you see you are decelerating slower than you'd like, you can always pitch up and use main engines to slow your descent faster, before attempting a proper approach and landing

  6. If you messed up your calculations in the first step and see you are still falling with full upwards thrust DON'T PANIC, you can use ion thrusters or pitch up slightly to get more upwards thrust from the main engines(This way you could even get more cargo to a planet's surface than what you normally could)

  7. Land normally or land with the same pitch in step 6, if you followed step 6
Spent Delta-V: 1082m/s
Spent Tank Percentage: 18,2%

Earth Landing (with speed mods)
  1. Check your weight and natural gravity to make sure upwards TWR will be greater than 1 on the surface
  2. Enter the planet's/moon's gravity field
  3. Disable inertia dampeners
  4. Leave some safety altitude and speed (no faster than 300m/s)
  5. Slow down to a safe speed with main engines (slower than 100m/s) and then level out and toggle inertia dampeners periodically to land

  6. If you see you are decelerating slower than you'd like, you can always pitch up and use main engines to slow your descent faster, before attempting a proper approach and landing

  7. If you messed up your calculations in the first step and see you are still falling with full upwards thrust DON'T PANIC, you can use ion thrusters in atmo or pitch up slightly to get more upwards thrust from the main engines (This way you could even get more cargo to a planet's surface than what you normally could)

  8. Land normally or land with the same pitch in step 7, if you followed step 7
Spent Delta-V: 1605m/s
Spent Tank Percentage: 27%

Closing Thoughts

Remember, you'll need more delta-V with increased mass which in itself will decrease available delta-V.

You can get more efficient in the speed moded take-off if you use main ion engines or take-off horizontally with the atmospheric mod.

You can use ion thrust to get more cargo from the surface into orbit.

You can easily modify this ship to have more upwards thrust and cut off the wings to include the atmospheric wings mod.

I hope you enjoy this ship as much as I did building it and flying it.
