Description
Era - 2000s - Boxing - Heavyweight

A tricky, fast handed southpaw Dagestani Russian, Sultan Ibragimov was a solid contender in the Klitschko era of the Heavyweight divsion.

Ibragimov was born in Tlyarata in Dagestani Russia in 1975 and by 2000, won a Silver Medal in the Olympic Games. He turned professional in 2002, with only one draw against Ray Austin(which Ibragimov blamed on his then-recent discovery of McDonalds, which caused an unfortunate weight gain before the fight), and a lightning fast record knockout of Javier Mora in 2007. Later in the year, Ibragimov faced Shannon Briggs and defeated him to take his share of the Heavyweight title. A decision victory over the legendary Evander Holyfield followed but by the next year, Wladimir Klitschko easily toyed with the smaller Ibragimov to issue him his first career defeat.
