Description
CURRENT VERSION: 1.192 - Economy-Update

The Gullinbursti Asteroid Drift-Mining Vessel is a small grid Miner, designed for slope- and drift-mining in non-atmospheric environments. It can be used on the moon as well as in void space. The ship is powered by batteries, backed up by small Reactors and uses Ion Thrusters.

This ship is full vanilla and easy to build in survival, featuring no Mods, DLCs or subgrids.

The preinstalled scripts are not mandatory. But if you want to use them, experiemntal mode has to be enabled on your savegame/server.

Looking for a Miner to work planetside? How about this?

Author's note
The Gullinbursti is an advanced general-purpose miner, designed for colonists who want to step up their game after their base has been established. This ship is based on a mining vessel I built in survival and which has been used by multiple players and has seen multiple Upgrades based on the feedback I received.
Please keep in mind that this is not a beginner-miner and like my Construction-Ship it has a lot of features, which you might rate unnecessary, like a lot of decorative lights, LCDs and armor.

Key features
  • 6 Drills
  • 5 Medium Cargo Containers
  • 5 Connectors
  • Jumpstart Reactor
  • Repair-Projector
  • Preset Stone-Ejectors
  • Cone design - Drills cover as much area as possible while the hull is kept sleek. This allowes the vessel to create wider tunnels and provide more space for movement, reducing the risk of collisions or getting stuck
  • Lots of Connectors - You can dock the ship pretty much everywhere* without having to modify your base or Carrier-Vessel. Connectors also help to dump material quickly if neccessary.
  • Configurated LCDs - Automatic LCDs 2 by MMaster is preinstalled and helps to keep an eye on Power-Management, collected ore and cargohold!
  • PAM inside! - The Gullinbursti is set up with Path Auto Miner [PAM]. Lean back and watch the machine doing all the work!
  • Dakka included - It remains questionable if it really makes sense to arm a Mining-Vessel. However, statistics have shown that reports of harrassment against female employees instantly dropped to zero after they were assigned a Gullinbursti.

*Given the Hitbox of the Drills, an elevated Docking-Connector is recommended when using the top- or bottom-Connectors

Description
Success is just the result of a good plan.

When it comes to ressource-aquisition, many variables have to be considerd. Where is the excavation-site? How difficult is the terrain? How large and spread is the deposit? Do you need to dig a shaft or a tunnel to reach it? How much space do you have? Where is the next refinery?

These are just a few questions that come to mind, when creating the right Mining-Vessel for the job. The market offers a wide varity of ships (and ground vehicles) for all the specific task you can imagine. But sometimes you need a design that just works, whatever you throw at it. And this is where V.M.Es Gullinbursti-Series steps in.

The Gullinbursti Miner is the latest version of Valkyrjas most successfull industrial vessel in service. This ship has seen a lot of testing and feedback from satisfied custumors who have been using the vessel for almost a year now.

It has always been the goal to make the Gullinbursti as ulitarian as possible. This includes keeping dimensions compact while having the drills covering as much space as possible. This allows the ship to maintain some space in tunnels, reducing the posibility of getting stuck. The Gullinbursti was also designed with redundancy in mind, so it has enough reserves in power and thrust to keep flying, even if the operating pilot gets in an accident. Good manoverbility is ensured, even if the ship is fully loaded, making it fairly easy to operate even by an unexperienced pilot. Plus the Gullinbursti-S has enough thrust to counter moon-gravity.

Five Connectors allow you to dock the ship almost everywhere you want without making extensive modifications to it or your base/carrier. However, given the placement of the drills, an elevated connector is required when docking the ship with the bottom/top port.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance
  • The Game has seen a lot of significant changes within the last months and more are still to expect. To ensure the ship keeps working as intended, check your scripts after every patch and update them to the latest version if neccessary.

  • If you're having issues with PAM, please check this Guide. If you've never used PAM before, read the guide carefully before operating.

So what exactly IS drift mining?

Started with the Sveinn and graduated to this. Really enjoy this ship, it's my go to. I do run into the power spikes mentioned a few years ago in some comments. I am just reminding myself to charge more often. Thanks for this (and the several others I am taking as well!)

Hey Taidyr. Great Job with the design. Do you have a large grid version of this?
TekLest 17 aout 2021 à 8h41
@Taidyr what is the offset for the drills when using PAM?
Great mod never use any other miner

Thank you very much for the positive feedback and the concession :)

Hi @Torflurch.
Nah, that's totally fine with me. Nice Mining Barge btw! Thanks for sharing it.

Hi :)
I really like your ship designs!
After creating a mining hauler with a small hangar to fit a mining vessel
I suggested two of your creations to use with.
Hopefully this is okay for you, if not please contact me and I will remove them from the description.

Oh wow, ok thank you Taidyr. Simple but annoying fix. Love your ships btw, the liftmaster has been a huge boon to my moon station.

Hey @Saul,
That's not just an issue with the Miner, but with SE in general. If you have multiple ships with identical group names docked to the same grid (like your station or carrier), Interacting with the group of one vessel will also affect the other one as well. The only way to get around this is to redo the groups of one ship entirely with different names - or prefix, which is what I usually do.

I've run into a weird issue. I have two of these miners and every time I turn something off on one ship, the same item gets turned on with the other when both ships are connected to the same grid (station or ship). When not connected to the same grid they are fine (I believe), it's only happened when connected to the same grid. To be clear, if Miner A and B are connected to the same grid (station or ship) and I turn the ion engines off on Miner A, the ion engines turn on with Miner B and vice versa.

Do you or anyone have any idea why this might be happening?
