[WOTC] Iridar's System Infiltration

This mod adds the System Infiltration ability, which becomes available at the same time as other Hacking actions. At the cost of one non turn ending action, System Infiltration will increase soldier's Hacking stat by 20 (configurable), increasing chances of succesfful hack.

So if you can beat the mission timer and get your hacker in position early, you can benefit from your tactical prowess by reaping strategic or tactical rewards.

System Infiltration can be used several times, and the bonus will stack. All bonuses are lost if the hacker moves or takes damage, but otherwise they will last indefinitely and the soldier is free to perform other actions inbetween multiple System Infiltrations, as long as they do not move.

System Infiltration does not break concealment by default, configurable.

System Infiltration does not depend on class or equipment, it's available to everyone.

It's safe to add mid-campaign, but it won't do anything mid-tactical.

Made this mod mostly for myself. I always felt the base game hacking was too RNG-based, and there aren't enough ways to make a soldier more effective as a hacker.


1) The ability is intented to become available when another hack-related action becomes available, but this functionality has been kinda buggy, so if you have issues with that, go into


And set: ALWAYS_AVAILABLE = true;

2) Enemy Protocol hack reward will permanently add the Hacking stat bonuses stacked by System Infiltration. I have not been able to fix it yet.

3) The animation is supposed to include the soldier pulling out his hacking laptop, but it's sometimes invisible. Dunno why.

4) This ability creates looping sound effects when used by SPARKs. System Infiltration was never intended to be used by SPARKs in the first place, and it will be removed in the future.

The bonuses from system infiltration don't end after moving so they are permanent I have a soldier with a default hacking of 200

I have one super annoying bug caused by your mod, which is that when using system infiltration, something the hacking sound loops forever. Not sure if this is related to other mods I'm using, but it bugs out the most on SPARK units, but also on other regular soldiers as well.

Is there something I can edit to make the sound for hacking simply not play?

this mod doesn't do anything to the hacking process itself, it just provides a boost to the soldier's Hacking stat. Look for the problem elsewhere.

So, I was trying to activate the hacking bonus "scanning time for avenger reduced by 50%". I tried it over and over, but failed. Then I swapped to the other option, "Reduce current research time by half" and the mission ended. Maybe that was specifically the issue?

Hm. I just used this for the first time. I spent 6 turns stacking the bonus for a total of twelve times. Now when I have the objective, I succeed the hack, but the objective doesn't complete. The mission continues. I can hack it over and over successfully, but I won't complete the mission.

I am using a bunch of other mods, but none of them appear to affect hacking. I do have the 'free hacking action' mod, and also 'hacking proficiency' but I don't think they cause any conflicts?

Anyone had a problem with using 'Hack plus mode'? I can't find the button 'system in...' my playng.
But it's really cool MOD i think.

I don't plan any big changes for System Infiltration. I would fulfill such a request if it came from a patron, though. If you know what I mean ;)

Ah, I see the description now says breaking concealment is configurable. Any chance of making the hacking boost or number of boosts scale with soldier rank or at least gremlin tier?

I love the idea behind this and how it overcomes the fundamental flaw of the other mod that tries to accomplish this (the other one stuns the soldier for a number of turns), because a restore ability makes there no drawback to sinking 5 actions into it. This is much better because you have to spend the actions up front, but you can still choose to abort if an emergency happens.
