Description
Era - 1940s / 1960s - Boxing - Heavyweight

One Hundred Thirty One. That number seems like a strange way to start a profile, but when one considers that 131 is the number of knockouts delivered by Archie Moore through his illustrious career, the number becomes a source of astonishment. Moore is considered by many to be the best light heavyweight of all time, a man who fought effectively into the late period of his extremely long career, nearly defeated Rocky Marciano and fought both Muhammad Ali and Floyd Patterson in losing battles.

Moore was a dangerous defensive boxer with power in both hands and a unique shifting guard that could handle most any opponent's offence.
