Rise of the muslims

Description
In the 7th century a new religion would see the light in the desert of Arabia: the Islam. In the years to come, Muslims would convey the word of Allah through the Near East, N of Africa, and Europe.

A campaign of 3 scenarios with geographical and historical fidelity designed by igorhp:
  • Hegira: In the city of Mecca lives a merchant who hears the Allah's word on a mountain, Muhammad begins to prophesy the new religion in the area, but the ruling Qurays planters fear for their influence and decide to expel him from the city. Muhammad thus begins his forced exile to Yatrib, where he will try to convince and organize an army of worshipers to return to Mecca.

  • Orthodox Caliphs: After the death of the Prophet Muhammad, 4 caliphs or "messengers of the Allah's word" will strengthen the influence of Islam throughout the Arabian Peninsula. The sacred message would also reach the neighboring peoples of Egypt, Jerusalem, Damascus, the Sassanid Empire, and Persia.

  • Umayyad conquests in OCC: The Umayyad dynasty became the most powerful clan of the Islamic world in the 8th century, Muslim armies would travel the arid N of Africa to cross the Strait of Gibraltar in the 711 and declare war on the Visigoths of Hispania and the Frankish Empire.

Thanks to everyone for playing this campaign and for your comments and likes, I hope you like it. I have tried to do some difficult scenarios, for some people maybe too much, but this game is already many years old and I think that new challengers are necessary.

Use the Saracen Market Bonus to buy stone and put up defensive castles ASAP.

Once you destroy a certain number of units, the Italians will turn friendly, and let you trade with them.
Fully-upgraded Knights can be used to snipe nomad camps; the North African base is pretty weak, a stack of xbows/arbalests with a few monks can demolish the entire base- archers kill units, monks convert production buildings.

The resources in the African base respawn, so you can really build up before invading Spain. tech up to Siege onagers and use some cavalry to distract the castle before you attack with Siege- on Moderate, the Spanish don't have Ballistics, don't remember about Hard.

Would be awesome if there was something like an age of chivalry mod but for the muslim world that had all the major empires each as their own civilisation instead of the generic saracenes, persian, turks etc...

You could have that Rashidun, Fatamids, Abbasids, Seljuks, Ottomans, Afghans, Kurds, Tajiks, and so on...

Okay, so in the third scenario I fulfilled the first objective as secified and destroyed both the fleet at harbor and the three towers. Afterwards, however, I got neither a town center nor any villagers. With the tiny amount of starting resources given and no way to get more, this has to be a glitch. Any advice?

yep! i know. was still superhard at times but monks are key. also it seems you get a trickle of resources over time so you could even build a castle or two (but watch out for trebs!)
