A garabonciás természetfeletti erejű személy, a táltosokhoz hasonlóan foggal születik. Rongyos köpenyben, kezében könyvvel kopogtat be a házakba: tejet vagy tojást kér. A garabonciás ellen harangozással lehet védekezni. Bűvös könyve segítségével a levegőbe tud emelkedni. Sárkány húsából tesz a nyelve alá, akkor nem érzi a nap közelében a hőséget.
