Awesome game, though short. Indie does what AAA don't!

This is an incredibly fun survival horror reference-athon, and for so cheap it's an instant recommend. Play if you like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Amnesia, Blood or even Monty Python (though it plays like a 1st person blend of RE1 & RE4).

A very good survival horror experience though not without it's flaws - in fact, the game is like the original Resident Evil in that regard especially, as the non-linear survival horror gameplay is top-notch, but the story and dialogue is cringe-inducing and terrible, though not in a so-bad-it's-good kind of way like in the original Resident Evil. Still, the game design is for the most part so good it easily outweighs the rest and I'd recommend it to any fan of RE or Silent Hill. Looking forward to the sequel.

Go into this game blind, as I did.
While the gameplay isn't the most appealing (to me), the story is what makes this game shine. It's a game I'll probably never replay, but always remember.

This remake is very faithful to the 2005 classic - significantly more so than the RE2 & 3 remakes. It's very well done in all technical aspects, has great combat system, and certain improvements over the original story-wise. However, RE4R has some problems - problems that become obvious when playing on Hardcore difficulty or higher, such as terribly slow animations, tedious stun-locks and, to be honest, a real lack of atmosphere! The original (which I first played in 2020 or so, no nostalgia involved) has much better, more memorable music and sound effects and general tone to it. The remake also has sections which drag horribly, which the original didn't to the same extent. Overall, this remake is a great game and well worth your time - but honestly not as good as I initially thought, and I still prefer the original.

A true classic, but flawed. Only about half of the game's missions are actual thieving missions and the rest are more dungeon crawling or tomb raiding focused. The Gold levels are almost all bad. Still, Thief is stealth at its finest.
