I would love to give this a thumbs sideways rating, as I can see people who love the genre really liking it. It's fiddly, controls are bad, combat is awful, switching camera views while moving is frustrating, having limited saves SUCKS. But if you go in expecting that kind of thing, you might enjoy it. I didn't, unfortunately.

I learned my lesson boss. I will read and believe in the negative reviews. I deeply apologize to myself for not accepting the reality of how awful this game is.

A really cool game with tons of promise that's let down by some pretty baffling design decisions largely related to its combat and enemies. Overall, this game does such a great job of mimicking old school survival horror with the environment design, cameras, story, etc. I was having a lot of fun for about an hour playing something so nostalgic. The puzzles were pretty decent, too.

However, I ran into so many issues with enemies the game became almost instantly an awful grind. Most spaces have an enemy or two, so you never have down time to puzzle solve. The starting weapons deal so little damage to enemies and don't stun them so you quickly get cornered. They deal a huge amount of damage and there is almost no healing items in the game. Most of the game is halls full of locked doors, so when the enemies chase you half the time you get trapped in a hallway where you're guaranteed death and it makes exploration into a tedious trial and effort process.

I got soft locked about two hours in because enemies don't reset positions when you go into other rooms, so an enemy followed me into a hallway, I went through the door and saved, and the only way is back through that door, but the enemy is waiting for me in the hallway where I die repeatedly.

Close but no cigar. I don't have time for this.
