i understand you want to defend paradox, as I am also a fervent fan of paradox, i enjoyed title like hoi4 and stellaris and ck2 and EUIV for thousand of hours, but i still feel along many veterans that the game is lacking in quality that should have been here since the beginning also questionable mechanic decision, i didnt quench my roman history thirst

Nobody fielded entire cohorts of Javeliner(which are not even a thing), Sligers, or Meduim Infantry(which dont exist). They were integrated into existing ones to preform a role when needed. More akin to attachments like in HOI4. Javeliners were not a thing they are called Peltast carried 3 Pila (Javelins) sometimes a few more, and they would throw them before entering melee, and were used by both light and heavy infantry, but more so by light infantry. Light armored Peltast and Sligers are considered skirmisher units. They are already perceived as being apart of the skirmisher cohort you recruit.

You need to go watch the opening battle of Alexander. There you will see the role and size of those units at play. Medium infantry were not a thing either, there was just light and heavy. Before you touch your keyboard and say something sucks because its not historically accurate maybe you should first know the facts about the history you are speaking of. Imperator Rome is a wonderfully historically accurate game even if its a little dry at times.
