Better than any other firefighting game on the market...easily. It isn't perfect, but the fire physics such as rollover, side ventilation, backdraft, and propagation are well modeled.

But for the love of all that is holy....please devs.. no more walk-in missions. Absolute turds. I mean, what the hell is the point? AI can't use extinguishers, and no water resources. To top it all off, they usually have excessive drive time. One mission literally closes off the freeway (for no reason), so you have to drive 11 km to what would be less than 1km. The game can be really good, but some of the things thrown in there really make me replay the AVGN in my head..."WHAT WERE THEY THINKING!?"

For $4.00? Would have paid 50.00 for it back in the days of SNES games. The fact that you can take your badass upgraded plane and redo old levels is amazing... Mig-21 vs WW1 equipment? Go for it!

Go hungry one night and skip the Jack in the Box, and get this game.

I don't really get all the hate for this game. If you like the idea of moving ships around fairly realistically, get this one, especially if it is on sale.

The graphics are pretty much par for a simulator released in 2010.. not really pretty, but they get the job done. The ship and water physics are very well done. A big ship really feels like a big ship. They take a long time to get going, and a long time to stop. I was towing a huge container ship out of port, and mis-timed a turn. Nothing could stop the ship from slamming into the seawall. The water physics are equally as good. I was taking a speed boat for a whirl, when I came up next to an ocean liner at full clip.. THE WAKE ACTUALLY PULLS YOU IN TOWARDS THE BIGGER SHIP.. as I approached the bow, the bow wake flipped my little boat over without mercy... 10/10, would drown again..

The missions are fairly varied, and can take 1-2 hours each. It is too bad that this game can't be modded, but there is enough content to keep you busy for awhile. If you are looking for realism, you will find it here.. it is FAR more realistic than the prettier, and moddable, Vehicle Simulator (a good title in its own right, just not realistic at all.)

Would be great if it were a bit more stable. Crashes come on swift wings with this game, so save often, and don't do anymore to "rock the boat" than you need to. (spawning ships, changing times, etc.)

There isn't a better ship game out there though, so grudgingly have to recommend.

This game is freaking awesome. Build pretty much any type of vehicle you want (though it is definitely geared towards ships) and send them to battle against an array of player made contraptions that will destroy your ship in 5 seconds.

Once you climb the learning curve, the game gets really fun, and you can find yourself spending hours and hours designing stuff. If you have any interest in naval warfare, or vehicle design, get this one for sure.

Still not convinced? Visit their forum and find one of the nicest, most helpful communities around. Have a question about a design? Instead of "pfft, get gud nub" they will actually explain the mechanics behind it, and improve your blueprint if you upload it for them.

Fun, but repetitive, and crashes. A lot. Get it if on sale, otherwise don't bother.

Though I only have a few hours into this game so far, I will say this: The last time a game "grabbed" me like this was when I first played Kerbal Space Program...and sunk around 2500 hours into it over the next year and a half.

You will find yourself drawn into the HUGE world, in which you can do anything.. tired of walking? Build an ATV... still too far, build a plane. Too lazy to steer? Build a rail network. Tired of building? Go don a conquistador's outfit and kill some monsters... there are no limits, Minecraft doesn't even come close to this... if you have a creative, or explorative bone in your body, buy this. Now.

It is Cities XL. Those expecting an entirely new game will be disappointed. With that said, the game does indeed have multi-core support, and runs very smooth. It has full Steam integration, with Workshop support. It does have some new content, though much of the game is the same. Clouds, and other little features are sprinkled around the game.

Basically, everything that they said was going to be added, was. It's worth the $40.00 bucks if you haven't played it before, as it is the prettiest city building game around by far. Its worth $20.00 as an upgrade, because multi-core does indeed work, and works well.

Anyone hating on the game, saying nothing was added is wrong. By default, the mere fact that multi-core was added makes their statement wrong, as that is not something that is just easily tacked on. As it stands now, a lot of the bigger mods, such as RHM aren't compatible, but is already starting to be converted over. Is XXL perfect? No. Is it an improvement over Platinum? Yes, a big one. Is it better than unmodded Simcity 4 or the new abomination? Yes.

Wonderful game! Its fine as vanilla, and even better with mods. It's like having your own living model railroad, without spending a fortune. As the game goes on, the towns grow toward your stations, buildings, cars, and even the pedestrian's clothing styles change. You can spend hours just getting your lines set perfectly; the learning curve is not too steep, yet the gameplay is pretty complex, with each individual citizen having their own schedule, home, and workplace.

All that complexity has a bit of a price though; I don't recommend playing a map size larger than "small" if you have a 32 bit system. Even with 64 bits, the game will start to lag toward endgame (there are now mods to help with that though.)

The graphics are a bit cartoonish, which I think was the point, its like a model railroad, not intended for hardcore realism. The sounds are fine, but the music soundtrack leaves a bit to be desired IMO, it doesn't fit the mood of the game at all.

Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this game if you are interested in trains, model railroads, or transit systems at all.

Beware. This game will take over your life.

1.1.3 has fixed most of the teething problems with 64 bit, and is quite stable once again. If you have any interest in space flight, aerospace engineering, or astronomy, get this game. Now.
