Sometimes I load up the game just to walk off the nearest ledge and dive into an expanse, allowing myself to fall infinite distances without ever going far. Many mesmerizing moments.

Pros:
* Engaging combat with tight mechanics
* Abilities are both practical and powerful
* Sound, music, art, setting, direction, graphics are all yum
* Intriguing lore and immersive tone
* Darling was fun
* Voice acting and mocap are on point. People feel believable in a strange setting

Mid:
* Substantial amount of lore is fed through collectibles: videos, recordings, and documents (text dumps).
* Story is felt more than understood
* Antagonist is an immaterial entity
* Threshold Kids
* 4 out of 11 outfits can no longer be acquired

Cons:
* The overlapping of floors on the map makes navigation confusing. May be thematically poignant, but the player suffers
* Progression feels slow, in both story and skill-tree
* Combat doesn't feel balanced -- I can bulldoze or be bulldozed
* Side quests are either egg hunts or slay enemies with hit-or-miss loot

Death is natural and inevitable.

Don't play this game if you want to learn Mandarin / Chinese. There's no 'pinyin', which are notations on top of syllables that indicate which tone to use while speaking the word. This severely handicaps one's ability to learn the language properly.

Negative reviews for this game say that it's too hard if you mess up once... but there is a REWIND BUTTON!
It goes back a whole five seconds so that you can erase your mistake.
This game is neat. It's basic but has a lot of polish. I don't normally play racing games, but I appreciate the feel of this one.

Some games can be more than the sum of its parts. Hades is not one of those games, because that may imply that any one of those parts had imperfection.

Every round I play is like a bong hit of dopamine. This is by design.
