This is one of the few games i have played, where i genuinly sit back during a cutscene and smile popped up on my face. The game has such a tight and amazing atmosphere and storytelling, it can teach some of the big ones (Mass Effect, Dragon Age, etc) a trick or too.
Amazing!

One of the most entertaining and addicting rogue likes in a long time, with an over the top excellent storyline (I got sentimental when I got the first part of the ending) and some really, really good character/npcx design

Great Artstyle, Great Gameplay, Great Nostaliga, Great Humor...Great Great!

No seriously: a lovelingly handcrafted game full of insider jokes for all the old games and if you ever played diablo..you WILL like it..

An insanely atmospheric game, i keep getting those "WTF!?" and "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!" moments, even if i think i have seen everything...
It feels badass on one side, and scary on the other, a really, enjoyable game that even in its early stages is very enjoyable to play.

My only wish is that we will be able to battle more than just poltergeister later on (Demons? Werewolfs? Vampires? give it to me!)

A shame the game got a discontinued development, it was full of massive potential

EDIT: the latest patch has brought some amazing new features to the game, creating zombies to do all the menial tasks by harvesting the organs of corpses, improving your zombies. I finally feel like a maniac evil Graveyard keeper :)

I wish i could recommend this game.

Everyone knows how much i am a sucker for dark/sarcastic gameplay and mood and how i look necromancy etc.
And here i thought i get a Stardew Valley meets Grim Dark.
Dont get me wrong, the setting and atmosphere is there and you get the general and overall feeling of it being a darker cousin to the former mentioned game, but it is so incredible unpolished, that i have lost a great deal of motivation.

And the motivation was there, the desire to upgrade your church, your graveyard, to make everything perfect is there and gets really well incentized by the game, but it is half baked.

All the mechanics arent explained in game (i found out about skulls 7 days into the game or more, after in finally dumped a body into the river.) you have to rely on the wikipedia.

The game is ridden with bugs, e.g. Vendors stop restocking their storage if you play the game too long without restarting it. Vendors do not buy or sell everything and it is unclear what each Vendor actually buys (one would think the miller buys Wheat, but he only buys flour...e.g.).

Certain soft locks of the game arent communicted beforehand (upgrading your church without having enough money to get the right rank locks you out of doing sermons, your weekly money income...)

Parts of the map have been left out of the game and being adressed to that, the developers state it was always only meant as a joke (see, Town).

But the worst part about it is that 95% of the time you spend running back and forth between certain points to get ressources or items you need to progress in the game. The Merchant e.g. sells 1 Silk every week and is only available 1 day per week. You need 2 Silk to get the better Church benches and there are 6 benches in the chruche (probably more with the upgraded Church)....so you will need at least 12 ingame weeks to upgrade your church, to get more money, to further progress.

And that IS the crux about the game: your progression is hard locked by the game itself, not about how smart or efficient you work and set up your base.

And last but not least, the game does NOT support mods, in fact, the only mod that was provided by the community was considered a cheat by the developers (a mod that lets you run, but you use up your energy).

In its current state, i cant recommend the game.

Early Access Review
An excellent game, rich in story and lore, atmospheric with a dedicated and busy bunch of developers backing it. One of the most immersive and enriching survival sandbox games i have played

I have only played the Mage Campaign so far, but this one kicks some serious ass.
I am a Mage: Ascension fan from the first hour and seeing some of the different traditions and factions involved was awesome.

The serene music helps too and it feels just perfect.

The only downside is the rather short playtime...and i am not sure if 10 Bucks for it are really worthy. But that is up to everyone to decide on their own.
The game itself, is really, really good

The fluidy of the gameplay, the most AWESOME soundtrack and the fair design keeps you hitting retry even after your 20th death.

This game is pure gold and a great hommage to the 80s too!

I am one of those guys who backed the game, who spend some 500h into the game and who was even one of the Administrators for the discord.
I spend a whole lot of good time on the game and i enjoyed the company of all my fellow chaos brethren back in the days, 1,5 years ago, when the game was all out new and shiny and with a solid playerbase.

So why cant i recommend the game?

Because even i got disappointed. All my other gaming companions left long ago, feeling disappointed about the game and i stuck around, always hoping for improvements and betterments.

But these days the community is more into splitting the already low playerbase, being toxic to each other and shouting exploit here, cheat there.

The game is dying, with a low playerbase peak of 200, with sometimes not even a single person online. Powergrabs, infights and general toxicity have destroyed the game as much as broken promises and missing content.
There is only one developer activly working on the game, the community is busy fighting for power and "being right" when it comes to gameplay mechanics, rather than all activly trying to work together in one big pull.

And as of late, a game mechanic that has been approved by a developer and cleared to be working as itnended is suddenly now a perman-ban-able offense, leading to an even bigger decline in the userbase.

The game is like the Great Emperor of Mankind: A rotten corpse, waiting for his deliverance from this eternal pain and suffering
