I've been gaming since 1995. Only a few games have driven me to try to complete them and i never feel fully immersed (I miss you red orchestra). None have immersed me like Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe its all the flashing lights and half naked women, maybe its the fancy guns or Keanu Reeves. But really, its the sum of its parts. The city feels way more real than any GTA city did. I love exploring the city and looking at all the different ads, watching the news, reading the stories, and listening to dialogues. I have only one complaint, and that i wish the game was 10x longer. I mean there could be more gun variety and car variety but im not complaining. I work in real life in an emotionally stressful career. No game creates an emotional response from me. This game on a side mission did so, and i was blown away.

I highly, highly recommend this game and hope you pick it up and support the developer, so they can send more content this way. If we want to talk about bugs, I have seen maybe a handful in the 150 hours i've played and explored so far. Just buy the damn thing you wont regret it. Go slow, explore, watch the dialogue, and become immersed.

The game itself is pretty fun and pretty great. No real complaints other than it takes a bit too long to see any action. What drove me absolutely insane, is installing it on Steam creates a new account automatically, and you CANNOT log in to your existing account. So give the game a try, but DO NOT install it on steam. What a joke!

Early Access Review
I was hoping for maybe a red orchestra style game. Instead, I got very ♥♥♥♥♥♥ frame rates, dull thumping gun sounds, and a 30 second respawn timer followed by a 400 yard sprint. When i wasn't running, I was generally dead. Spawned again? Nah artillery got ya. Spawned again? Nah camper with an MG.

The graphics are good, and i had a few very good moments....but overall the game play was sorely lacking, the audio downright sucky, and the controls seemed clunky and unresponsive. Again, I wasn't looking for a battlefield or call of duty game, but this game sucked all the same.

I dont want to rain on the parade we've been waiting for, for what, almost a decade? Well, this game is the exact same thing as the old one, except with more polished graphics and a bit more helpful UI. The quests are redundant and not plentiful at all. The AI is just as stupid as it used to be.

What I miss was in battles in the first one, you were tough, you could take on 5 of the enemy and come out on top. In this one, a group of 5 peasants will slaughter you. You're a nobody in combat, so you just watch the masses hack eachother until done. Combat feels clunky and not very smooth at all.

Do you like watching loading screens? If so this game is for you. Want to talk to someone? Want to buy goods? Want to do ANYTHING other than ride around on the map? Loading screen!

Basically, I can't recommend it, even though it is in early access, as it feels like a major disappointment to where the first game was. I think the only thing that could save this game, will be the many, many mods that will eventually come out. Until then, this game, well, kinda sucks.

It's really unfortunate that a long time HOI gamer like myself, with literally over 1000 hours in HOI3, has to give HOI4 a bad review. It's also been a trend in gaming lately, in that deep games are becoming increasingly simple. HOI4 is just that: simple. Sure its flashier. But with that zazz that lost a lot of game play.

I feel the units are over simplified. Where are my garrison divisions? Siege Artillery? The ability to create your own divisions types are basically verboten until you're at war and have enough army XP. The flashy animations are ok, but I'm a classic wargamer and liked my stacks of counters with Nato symbols. I also liked my chain of command with HQ units, not one general only being able to command 24 units. I feel I've really lost a lot of the customization in units and my armies overall. Now they're just basically mobs of units that I dont feel are really mine. You feel me?

The game's production mechanism involving trying to build suffient numbers of types of equipment is rather nifty, however I feel thats just about all I do in the game is manage production, not run a war on every level.

The AI itself was paltry at best. On regular I took the soviet union without even trying, and the army AI you use to attack or defend does an atrocious job. Japan took China without problems. France fell in one week.

The tech tree is about as simple as simple can be, and ends in 1945, with very little variation.

I could go on and on but really, I think I'm just going to go play something else, this review is depressing me. Why Paradox? Why?

I have owned this game since the week it came out, and I have over 400+ game hours logged. I've played mainly as Germany starting in 36. This game is super detailed, especially with Diday's Iron Cross mod. No other game can give me a complete and expansive wwII experience like HOI3 can.
